This is a good deal if you're looking for a basic Windows 7 laptop, despite the Celeron processor.
Note you get 4% off with Quidco at Tesco Direct.
Hot!
PS. You need to add "@ Tesco Direct" to the header.

I'm quite surprised how much laptops have gone UP in the last year.

got an ACER T7600 (2.1ghz core2duo) for less than this well over a year ago.

Good price with the large 320GB hard drive - the processor is fine for mainstream use.

If possible to add on, how much would it cost to bring this machine up to 4gb ram?
#15
What graphics card is on this? Merely says dedicated which would indicate ati/nvidia, but other sites say intel...

edit - this one could have the radeon 3200. Not a bad price then imo
#16
looks a bargain to me

Try this code for 1000 points - it won't work for everyone as it's targeted but some of you might get lucky... TDXR-5P33

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/609721/1000-points-on-a-100-spend-at-tesco

or try 750points
TDXR-4639

or try 500 points code £50 TDXR 6589

(Before anyone says anything I did post these but my posts seemed to be removed and for some reason they aren't linked to Tesco Direct sales automatically at moment)

Nope. This Celeron processor is faster than an AMD M500, which in turn is faster than an M300!

A Celeron T3100 (like other more recent Celeron's) is simply a cut down Pentium Dual Core, which is in turn a cut down Core 2 Duo. Mainly lacking cache and a few special Intel features that most won't notice.

As a result, they allow good performance at a bargain price. For example, see earlier for the links to show this Celeron beating one of the slightly older T7xxx Core 2 Duo CPU's :)

For a slightly better cpu ? Less HD space ? More than a third MORE in £££££'s ?
You may think so, i don't

Has this got
a/ ONE 2gb stick of ram - available for another 2gb ?
b/ Windows 7 x64 ? (preferable) didn't see, maybe cant see wood for trees and all that but seems x32, and surely if it comes with Windows 7, it should have x32 and x64 (mine did)
Just checked its x32.
Battery life not great - 2 -2.5 hrs

mumbojumbo
The ATI Radeon HD 3200 is only found with AMD processors. Maybe Intel GMA 4500M on this one?

Not according to this

avoid at any cost. it is an extremely useless processor, go for a dual core t or p series instead :)

if you are going to say do not to buy this laptop please provide a link to a better laptop for the same price or keep your opinions to your self.

This is a dual core T series processor - it's even in the title.

It might be worth reading up on the new Pentium / Celeron processors - they are now a much better buy than they once were :)

Just received mine this morning, it does have a webcam and I must admit it gives out very good clear pics too.

Seems to be plenty fast enough, I bought a similar model from Staples for the daughter at xmas for the same price of £319, but branded under the Emachines name. the model was the E525, and the spec on that was not so good, Celeron C900 cpu, 160gig h/drive, and I'm unsure now whether it had 1 or 2 gig of memory. In the staples January sales they bumped the price up to £339 (so much for sales...lol) but notice it's back down to 319 again but it's only listing 1gig of memory.

Overall this Tesco deal is the much better buy especially for anyone getting it at £319,

I was hoping the so called dedicated graphics it mentioned in its specs might have been a ATI, but on mine it's the Intel GMA 4500M chipset . Certainly seems to run movies smooth enough anyway.

The Windows 7 is the 64bit version...BTW.

Fan seem nice and quiet, i hate noisy laptops/notebooks, I have a little Acer One, and its quite noisy.

Personally, for its low price, I dont thinks its too bad a deal at all!

Just noticed that it's back down to £319 again, though theres a couple of slight changes to the graphics chipset from what I can see, and bus speed is down to 667 from 800, so not sure whats going on ...LOL
