Achica – Past and Present
Pronounced a-she-ka, Achica was founded in 2010 by a team that included Quentin Griffiths, the co-founder of Asos, former TradeDoubler CEO, Will Cooper, and former Tesco Direct chief, Steve Robinson. In 2015, the firm was bought by furniture and home goods retailer Worldstores.
Achica’s business model is to offer luxury lifestyle brands from current lines at big discounts during flash sales. Most of the luxury goods on offer are currently being sold in High Street shops.
Goods are selected by a team of experts and Achica negotiates with the vendors to get the fiercest prices which are then promoted on the online store for periods ranging from 1-3 days. Typically, around 2000 items are promoted each day. This gives buyers the chance to snap up genuine high-end items at special prices. Achica also offers advice on seasonal shopping trends, home design ideas and much more on its blog.
Aside from offering products from third parties, Achica also has its own Premier Basics line. It consists of around 350 products comprising mainly bed linen and furniture items including; sofas, armchairs, tables, chairs, and shelving units.
Achica has no physical stores or catalogues, the online store is their only retail outlet. Achica reports to have signed up 4 million shoppers in the UK and has also recently expanded into Spain and France.
Buying from Achica
Achica’s sole outlet is located at www.achica.com. When you arrive at this site you’re immediately presented with a pop-up prompting you to sign up as a member. Visitors can browse categories without logging in but cannot see prices or the full range of items on offer. You have to be a member to buy at Achica but membership is free. In fact, you even receive a £10 credit upon registration.
You can quickly create an account by entering your e-mail address and creating a password, or you can sign up via Facebook. You’re then prompted on a new screen to enter your full name and to indicate how you found Achica.
You're also encouraged to get others to sign up either via your own special link, through Facebook, or by sending e-mails. New members signing up as you did receive £10 credit and you will also receive this amount when they make their first purchase. These payments, known as referral vouchers, are subject to a minimum spend and are valid for 45 days.
As a member, you receive daily or weekly e-mail bulletins with full details of the latest and ongoing promotions. You can check that day’s sales and view a timetable of what brands will be discounted over the next four days.

Each and every day Achica launches new promotions which last for 24, 48 or 72 hours. With limited quantities offered in each promotion, you have to be quick off the mark to snap up the best bargains. Also, once items are marked as SOLD OUT, they are no longer on offer so you need to wait until they become available in a later promotion. New promotions commence at 6.30am from Monday to Saturday and can be found on the home page or browsing through the various categories.
Achica is no place for leisurely shopping. Goods are held in your shopping basket for just 30 minutes. When this time is up, they’re released and become available for other customers again.
Ordering goods from Achica
Each page on the Achica online store features a menu with the main product categories - Furniture & Lighting, Kitchen & Dining, Bed & Bath, Home Furnishings, Art & Design, Garden & Pets, Baby & Child, and Fashion Accessories. Each category is subdivided into a list of offerings categorised into "New Promotions" and "Ending Soon".
Clicking on a product brings you to a page with full details including the number of remaining items in the sale, remaining time for the promotion, remaining time the item will be kept in your basket, Recommended Retail Price (RRP) or Suggested Retail Price (SRP), and the promotional price. It also stipulates whether the item can be delivered internationally or to Mainland UK only, and gives the estimated delivery time.
After selecting your desired items, click on "Proceed to Checkout". You are then prompted to fill out your billing address, which is followed by choosing your preferred payment method. The choices are Credit Card Payment or Checkout with PayPal. After making your payment, you’re taken to a confirmation page. Achica also sends you a confirmation email and estimated date of delivery.
Accepted Payment Methods
Achica accepts Visa, MasterCard and American Express, as well as PayPal.
Achica’s delivery rates are based on the weight of the package and the country of destination. Rates start at £4.99 for packages to the UK mainland weighing between 2 and 5kg. Delivery is free to UK Mainland for orders of £250 or more.
An estimated delivery time will be given in the order confirmation e-mail, usually between 15-20 working days from the close of the promotion for orders in the UK mainland. The long delivery time is explained by the fact that items have to be ordered from the various suppliers and then packed in Achica’s own warehouse. This usually means that all the items you order will be delivered together in one package. However, if the order is split into several shipments, only one shipping charge will be applied. Achica will also send you a follow-up e-mail when the product has been dispatched from their warehouse, confirming the estimated arrival date.
Larger items or international deliveries can take longer. Shipping fresh food and consumables, such as hampers, may involve a surcharge.
Achica ships to many countries worldwide including the Channel Islands and most of Europe, but excluding the USA, Switzerland, Norway, Romania, Greece, and the Canary Islands. They also do not ship to BFPO addresses or PO boxes.
