Bargain... i think

You can get kids guitars for a tenner in Home & Bargain.
#4
Please don't waste your £10's

It will be impossible/extremely difficult to play and is best suited to being firewood.

Well that goes for ANY guitar if you have no talent lol.

Yes but for beginners this is not the guitar to go for, will put you off for life

Have to agree, you could probably drive a double decker bus under the action..
#8
Bleugh looks like a 3/4 nylon

i suppose its good if you want to start your kids with chords perhaps but i'd advise savign your money
#9
Fendi make handbags, not guitars ;-)

What is this 'action' that you speak about?

No matter, found it. Better too high than too low ;-)

Got to admit could be ok for say taking away with you on a break or something. Always have an acoustic handy on a trip.

Bet it's nasty to play though. Probably better getting a second hand one at a car boot. Still, £10 who makes them for this price...well the Chinese I guess.
#13
Would be perfect to smash up and set fire to onstage..... :-D
#14
like most other people i bet its really bad but for a tenner if any one, like me, ever wants to smash a guitar up like the who, this might be the cheapest way of doing it.

Maybe a **** guitar but the guys who are stating it have yet to buy it or see it!!
#18
Big bag of rubbish that you'd be better off not buying. Don't bother as it won't tune properly and simply won't work.

I concur, ok £10 is a teeny price but it may be perfectly good for a learner. I remember my first guitar, it was a complete heap. But as I persisted and did my best with it I had a slightly more expensive one next....

Guitars are things you have to start off cheaply with - otherwise you could end up with an overpriced piece of firewood.

;)

decent brands of guitar you can sell 2nd hand without a loss. my advice get a decent branded guitar that is easy to play and that maximises your chances of getting the feel of the guitar. and if you dont, then sell it,- as long as you buy it for a good price it'll retain its value or maybe even more then its origional price.

this guitar will be best suited for young children. You know how they wreck things all the time after use so this is suitable and cheap
#23
OK, so any tips on what kind of brand/model to look for if a total novice wanted to buy an acoustic guitar to learn how to play?

Depends on your budget, how much would you be happy spending on a guitar?

I've seen entry level Fender acoustics go for about £65, or Yamaha ones for just over £50.
#25
Just been to the asda at accrington. Its only 10 minutes drive from where I live. They had about 6 left. I've got them as christmas presents for my young nephews. For £10 they can smash each other over the head with them.

What he said.

I'd recommend Yamaha ones.

Mind you i've got a steel strung "Encore", It sounded terrible, Stuck a pair of expensive strings on and it now sounds lovely!

Go to your local guitar shop and buy a basic beginners guitar - they wont sell total junk like this. Any premium brand budget versions by fender yamaha or washburn will be fine.

For bargains look for a brands called Vintage or Stagg.

A reasonable acoustic is gonna set you back about 70 - 100 quid brand new. Less than half that second hand.

Good luck

£10 guitar will be terrible

Bonfire Night is not that far away! As a professional guitarist I advise only buying this guitar if you need wood for your fire!

I'm really loving the negativity of the comments in here. The heat on this deal says it all really, not everybody wants a guitar to play 'seriously'. I've got a cheap ****** acoustic, I can't play it (i'm left handed and cba'd to restring it) but do a pretty good acoustic of Smoke on the Water PMSL.

Isn't this what Hotukdeals is all about. I bet we have bought trash in the past and wished someone had warned us.

So does anybody who has said these are **** actually OWN one, or is it pure speculation as to the quality? Giving warning if positive knowledge is available is good, just saying somethings rubbish because you 'think it might be' isn't overly useful imho:thumbsup:

Like I said, seems like a good cheap little toy to annoy the neighbours with:whistling:

Edit: Just to add, only a fool would expect a professional quality instrument for £10 ;-)
#34
Only a fool would expect a playable guitar that stays in tune for more than 3 strums for under a tenner.

My advice, like many peoples on this thread, is to avoid this.
#35
Try giving that to a pro and see how long it is before they smack you ever the head with it ^^

my young daughter wants something to strum along on while listening to her music this fits the bill perfectly .
Ps she had a barbie bicycle for her birthday i suppose your going to tell me that its no good for serious offroad use.:giggle:
people that rubbish this bargain are the fools because they think everyone who buys it wants to become a concert guitarist.
#37
I bought my 5 year old one of these from home bargains for christmas last year. Yes it is cheap but he is having a go at playing it, when he gets more into it and wants to progress then we will get him a proper one.
Why has everything got to get serious these items are for FUN. And we all could do with abit more of that.
#38
Huge thanks to all who responded to my earlier question, great stuff. I don't know for sure, but I suspect that a poor quality guitar that is difficult to play and keep in tune is likely to put you off perhaps earlier than you would do with a better quality one (someone else said this earlier).

Plus, I guess if I make a slightly larger investment I will be minded to persist with it until that final realisation that yes, I do indeed have all the manual dexterity of a dead fish. :-D
#39
Something to buy for the kids rather than anyone seriously wanting to learn to play.

I am learning guitar at the moment as well, and i bought a nice tanglewood odessy acoustic from a chap on Ebay. Its a lovely guitar but i can play my dads £30 easier and better. So my advice would be try before you buy. get a guitar you've sat with and feel comfortable with otherwise you won't pick it up much. When i reach for a guitar its usually my dads now, still, mine looks good hanging on the wall.
