Hmm might have to look at this.
Does anyone know if it comes with a remote control?

Would be extremely hot if it did!
I have a 5th video ipod, if the audio in is via a 3.5mm jack why would it be limited to 2nd and 3rd generation.

I'd quite like this if it was ok for the 5th gen

edit: pehaps it would work but just not hold it correctly
I have yet to get an ipod but all this confusion over 2nd, 3rd generation compatability...some charge, some don't, some you need an adaptor etc, etc...just puts me off the whole thing!

...if it's a decent speaker it's scorchio though!!!

and I got one. Keep away. Bum quality. Not worth anything like 40 quid. Even for a tener, it's pushing it.
Have to agree with the last poster.

I too bought this last time and my big regret was not taking it back.

Not as good as it looks in the picture at all and the sound is not great. I would say the ipods that it would hold properly as in the picture would be very limited. My ipod touch would not stand up in it and I had to lie it down flat on the desk next to it.

I gave mine to my youngest daughter to use with her mp3 player which she is happy enough with and I bought a different one for my ipod.
was considering, but maybe not, going off the last 2 posts. Thanks for your views and saving me a tenner

Sound quality very good - but its a pain having to use it through the 3.5mm jack, no way of charging ipod/iphone
I bought one... took it back the next day.
Very Poor Quality, and it only has a headphone jack not a real ipod/phone mount.
I couldn't connect my iphone.

I wouldn't waste your time. Better to invest in a good quality setup.

This might be an alternative since it is twice the place elsewhere:
Wow then you got a great one.

Those pictures look nothing like the one I was given when I ordered that item.

In the last thread there was a lot of conflicting messages. A few said they had one with proper ipod dock adaptor and most said they didn't.

Maybe some people are just getting lucky. I didn't.

Probably a good suggestion is reserve one and check it out before you buy it. That way if they try to palm you off with the rubbish I got then you can say no thanks.

Yeah, I've been hearing a lot of mixed but probably more bad than good. The price drop is quite big though, so even at that price, I may just have to take a chance
Hi everyone, just to let you know I play my iphone 3G through it, quality is good, It also charges my iphone too. Hot from me cheaper than buying a second official Apple charger for work.:whistling::p.
Hope this helps other people decide on this bargain IMOA.
Steer clear of this! the sound quality is terrible (very tinney with no bass at all) and the build quality is very cheap. No way would anyone keep this if they had paid £39.99, i paid £10 and took it back the next day.
definitely only for Nanos - so be careful - other iPods need to use the headphone jack which is a bit naff. OK for a tenner though IMHO
I had this and return it the same day, its pants. Very cheap plastic and terrible sound. Can't really argue for a tenner though, but don't pay any more for this.
Steer clear of this, the sound quality is pants, mine went back to Argos, not even worth the sub £10 value IMHO.....

This has been posted before, it got slated then....

I got this for around £20 from Argos a few months's not the greatest sounding speaker dock by far BUT for £10 you're getting ya monies worth, so can't really complain, I stuck mine in the kitchen, it does a job whilst chopping my veg.. etc.. and is very handy for charging, if you want "quality" you're gonna need to dig a bit deeper but for a quick fix this is ok.
Hot and it does have an ipod dock connector I have one next to me, I can post photos if you want? Really good sound quality and it charges!

That isn't the one I got from Argos. Doesn't match the OP's picture either.
The one I got only had a headphone socket sticking up from the mount!
I assume the product mentioned in the original post is Argos catalog no. 534/8767. I bought this a week ago for £ 9.99. I can confirm that the sound quality is good with excellent bass response, more than enough to fill a room. It uses NXT flat speaker system which is known to have excellent overall frequency response, better than usual 2 speaker system. (Pls. don't compare it to a system with subwoofer for the bass response)
The other good point is its portability and with 4 AAA batteries (rechargeables are OK) you truly get a portable speaker system. It has AC power adapter too.
BUT it has only got 3.5mm jack connector and a platform to support small audio players like ipod nano. The platform has a 3.5mm male pin onto which the player can be pushed in. If the pins are loose, you may get bad quality sound. No remote, no ipod charger.
I think it is not a bad deal at all for a tenner, obviously not worth £40.:)
