Excuse me for being a tad thick....... but does this include the DVD player or is it just for the screens..
#4
Well, its advertised as a "dvd player", so I think Argos would be in a bit of trouble if it wasn't!

Does the word "DVD" not give you a hint?
This pic should put your mind at rest anyway...

Thank you for that :)

As i said on my first post ' Sorry for being a tad thick'

I would rather ask first than have my other half take the micky out of me for weeks because i bought the wrong thing!

Anyone now if this is any good, interested to know if it will play 'back up' DVD-R and DVD+R discs? Any views or comments appreciated.
#11

#12
Someone on thedvdforums.com posted that they got it working with DVDR's (didn't say if it was + or - or both though)

I don't think it matters where you come from you just have to be ' Special ' :)

The only qualifications needed are a tendency to be a 'Tad Thick'

(maybe mod privillages should be allowed for those from Yorkshire for being extra 'special' !) :whistling:

Anyone know if this plays DivX??

Well it looks the exact same one as we have and ours does play divx, although when we bought ours it also didn't state that it plays divx, was a great bonus when i found out it did.
:)

Can anybody confirm that this definitely DOES NOT come with the in car power adapter as I've found various comments to the contrary which seem to be for the same item, but from about a year ago, so I guess they could have changed it.

It does seem to be an alarming ommission though. Also, if it doesn't does anybody know if it's a standard power socket, so that I could buy a cheap adapter for it.

Thanks

Ta OP, just reserved :)

Can't get onto the DVDforum website at moment to check, but have you been able to play DVD-R and DVD+R discs on it?
#21
Thanks Edi...spotted an ad for it in the Metro newspaper this morning. If we hadn't already got one for Christmas, I'd have bought this as well. Its not going to be the greatest player in the world, but 2 screens and only £59.99 seems a good price to me.

Too many questions in this thread already around divx & in car adaptor.

I for one have just reserved one online, as it's a good deal and If it doesnt do what I want or have the correct adaptor in the box it can always go back to the shop. Can't fault argos' 14 day money back guarantee.

Argos is 5 mins from where I work, so I'll pick mine up tonight - if i don't like it - it'll be going back tomorrow.

Voted hot.

The reason I asked about the adapter is because Argos isn't 5 mins from me - it's over an hours round trip!
#24
Isnt argos' policy 30 days now?

Argos website says
Please note that this product is excluded from our 30 Day Money Back Guarantee. This does not affect your statutory rights.

Would be best to check the item instore before you go out the door in case you get stuck with something you don't want.

eurgh!!!!!! :p

Thanks for the heads up.
I hadn't read the small print.
I will check the device before I leave the store.

For info however, the 30 day no quibble refund is if you don't like the machine or just want your money back.
If you claim the device is faulty, they do offer you a refund or replacement.

Thanks for the heads up anyway.

Of course, just depends if they check it or not - saw someone try it once and they told them they would send item back to manufacturer to check if broken before giving a refund. Shouldn't be a problem normally, just depends if the member of staff is a real jobsworth or not!

They are offering a Gadget bag for 1/2 price if bought with DVD player for £14.99 (Normally £29.99) item no. 534/3896 add to basket with DVD player to get 1/2 price. Says bag comes with Includes in-car adaptor, AV lead, SCART adaptor, Banded headphones and Gadget bag also converts to car mount.

we got one of these a year or so ago (when £79) , worth every single penny on a looong car journey with kids in the back. Our was easily multi region hackable, also plays dvd+r's, and also came with a scart lead and mains plug so you could use it as a standalone dvd player (and not a bad one at that). only quibble is that the in car adaptor to dvd unit doesn't fit snugly enough so ours is stuck in with extra blue tack round the join.

And apparently you can somehow get a gamecube to work with the screens (car adaptor/video out combo)
#35
Yep, I bought this kit a year or so ago for £20 more. Would agree it's worth every penny. Mine plays DVD-Rs which I made up using my home DVD recorder. Mine *did* come with an in-car power supply, as well as mains option and padded black carry case. Good for hols as you can set it up in the car and then use it in your accomodation via mains.

Would seem a bit odd that it's marketed as in-car DVD player but no facility to use it in a car!

Great price, nonetheless.
