Just got this delivered yesterday :) Its really really good for the price, I know everyone on here was telling me to spend around £300 but I think for someone who is only going to use it a few times in the summer or for teenagers this is great, Was easy to build up and the size is perfect for a 6ft 11st male!

Ive been screwing it on the right way, it has a little picture to show which way it should be!!! Just not going on at all!
but if its the crank threads that are buggered, sent it back, that's major.
new bikes really have to be checked over by someone experienced, torques are crucial with bikes (too little and things come undone and get damaged, too much and... parts get damaged).
this is true of both cheap and expensive parts. not like cars where you can normally just "turn it till it's good and tight".

With use, you have to adjust the gears and breaks more often on cheaper bikes.
working on nice parts is a pleasure. (ooh err)
it really depends how much you ride..
i checked.. you can indeed get pedals for 5.99 delivered from CRC.
did you survive it?
NOT GOOD! NOT GOOD! After riding it for 20 minutes the left pedal came off! It wont screw back on now! Been looking on amazon for the returns and its ridiculous, they dont pick up on the weekend, in a bit of a pickle now I am unless I can get it fixed! Was working fine beforehand too! :(
And people wonder why I have a problem with mail order bikes...
Presumably to get it in the box, amazon didn't fit the pedals so they may legitimately refuse the return as you have done the damage.
The pedal axle is normally harder than the crank arm so you'll need a new LH crank for it.

Its definitely not the pedal, but the crank looks fine too - Might have another go at it tomorrow!
and the cheap bike one as when he went downhill he got better speed, it was not scientific or any great study, I think they were just trying to say, dont go out and buy a Chris Boardman and expect to get to work in half the time... that was all
The guy selling that first bike has half a dozen others listed on gumtree at the moment, which is usually a sign that they're nicked.
not familiar with gumtree - how do you view seller's other items? do you have to have an account?
Just do a search on his phone number

369 items! OK, so there are several duplicates, but he'd better have a decent reason for having that many to offload!
Sadly I get the feeling gumtree don't care much about stolen bikes, although it may be worth reporting it to them and as for the police....
