oh right thx

what's the IT process of fitting it? I presume you remove the HDD and slot this in instead, so how do you transfer the operating system from one to the other?

You can use free software like Macrium reflect to clone your existing Windows installation from HDD to SSD.

Good price - heat. When I installed my SSD it was easier to just do a clean installation. It probably depends on your setup but its probably a good opportunity to get rid of a lot of crap on your system and get the full benefit of an SSD. Also 120 isn't the biggest so a clone may not be your best option. lots of guides out there, just google it.

I've got an Adata SDD in my PC as the OS drive. Guess I've had it about 3 years and haven't had any issues. Was the best value at the time where I recall paying about £70 for a 120GB.

Just had a look at the drive using a utility and it says 9400 power on hours and 7.5TB of data written (13.3TB read).

There's also the issue of the 'drive alignment' which I think relates to the sector size possibly being different if you clone. But I'm a bit behind on these things nowadays.

Please confirm if money is taken on dispatch?

Is there any offer on 240GB ones?
#13
only 120gb? I find that isnt enough these days even just for having an OS and apps installed. It turns into a battle of you finding things you dont need or temp files etc to delete just so you can get it out of the red low space warning.

Windows 10 takes up about 25gb so you should have plenty of space for files etc. Obviously if you have lots of films, movies music or photos it may not be enough for you. But it would be enough for all my photos and music for example.

Maplin Phison 120 GB is £35

Is there a place that reviews these budget SSDs?
(the 120 GB SSDs that cost £40 or less)

I have no idea which ones come closest to achieving their quoted read/write speeds.

man should have bought a couple when 120 went for £24 half a year ago.
