#4

#5
Good spot kids were asking for a turtle they can have 1 now just right for the fish pond...

Seriosly though it is good to sponsor this kind of thing

Thanks Adey

If we save the 76% does that mean the turtles get 76% less as well?
#7
That's what I was wondering. How do you save money on a charitable donation?
#8
you're adopting a toy not the actual turtle..
#9
I noticed these when I was ordering my cookbooks during their super special day yesterday. Great price!
#10
can i cook them?
#11
Do I get to eat the Turtle :w00t:

Yes, you also get a small toy, but still, this is essentially about giving to save real turtles.

Gift Pack Contents: This gift box includes a small Turtle cuddly toy, Photograph card, Born Free Booklet, Thank You Card, Activation card.

After Registration: On activating you will receive a 12 month adoption of the Mafia Island Green Turtles, Welcome letter and adoption details, Personalised certificate and animal updates twice a year. You can activate your adoption online which will save the charity money.

Additional Features: The Mafia Island Green Turtle family live in Tanzania. Your adoption will help to support the local organisation 'Sea Sense' which protects these amazing creatures. They are hunted for their eggs and meat and exploited to make turtle soup. Turtle populations take a long time to recover, maturing at 30 years old and only one egg will survive in a thousand to become an adult turtle.

I also like the woodland trust plant a tree one - for every pack sold, a fiver goes to the trust. It's now £4.80 - so I wonder if the trust should buy a job lot themselves!

And in twelve months time you will be reminded to make another donation :whistling:

There probably was a small percentage of the cost going to the charity so Smiths are probably still able to charge that little, donate the right amount and still make a profit!

I doubt the amount donated to charity has been affected, it's probably just Smith's profit which has been reduced.
#34
Thanks, my kids will love these for their birthdays.
#35
Just bought both for my girls...that's my good deed for the day sorted anyway.
#36
Cool - just adopted a turtle for my hubby, and got the plant a tree thing for a friend for her birthday.

Nice find.
#37
the point about the charity donation was raised elsewhere. Someone emailed Smiths and was told that they "buy" the packs off the charities then resell them so the charities have already had their money, same position as charity cards. Therefore the price Smiths sell them at does not affect the benefit received by the charity.
#38
If that's true, then there's NO REASON AT ALL TO BUY THEM!

Hurrah!

I think i'm the only one who spotted the reference...
