Whys this cold? Not bargain of the century but handy to know

Yeah, these are about £8 each in Dixons last time I looked!

It's far better to pay a bit extra and get quality as these do make a massive difference to the speed of your line. It is a trade-off between doing proper research though and getting the good ones rather than getting ripped off for inferior ones at inflated prices.

plus the isp gives them away for free.

At 2 for a pound it's a no brainer !

If they don't work then they don't work & a pound won't bankrupt anybody, (that I know of).

Heat added.

They'll no doubt work, and the shop would replace them if they didn't or refund, but it's possible to have a much slower line with a lower quality filter. I nearly doubled the speed of mine when a poor filter was replaced.

But, for price, it's a deal, beaten only by ISP free ones I'd think.

Not all filters are the same these are bound to be rubbish causing your line to go slower.

These are voted cold because they will make your line go slower so you are paying each month for broadband and not receiving the best performance. A false economy, the best performance can be had from a filtered faceplate. Look at http://www.adslnation.com/support/filters.php to see how some different filters are made.

Oh come on, have you tested them? For 50p each no biggie if you have a decent phone line into your house the speed difference is likely to be negligable if they are lower quality.

Those front panels and extra priced filters are pretty much a con, I have tried everything from cheap items to relatively expensive front panels and even done ring main removal mod and they have made no difference on my line.

Not voting either way, but as has been said these can wreck the quality of the phone line. Perhaps these ones are decent. I wouldn't touch cheap filters.

To say that quality filters and replacement front panels are a con is utter nonsense. Just because you didn't notice any difference on your line. Plenty of us have.

I'd maybe buy these as spares, just to keep in case mine broke, to use in the meantime while I waited for good ones to get delivered.

Probably off the same production line as much more expensive filters.
