Why would anybody want to buy a table from their local branch of Argos thats been sitting on the shop floor for who knows how long? These tables will almost certainly have scuff marks all over them ~ cold!

No genius, you buy the items that are on the tables, not the tables themselves. oO

From what I understand it is the "gift" items that you see on the shop floors around the UK. My understanding is that they are struggling to shift the stock and would rather recoup money rather than give away after christmas.

Like I said, I will do what I can to get more information.

I think the OP might be right. Many retailers will introduce their most drastic markdowns 2 weeks before Christmas to avoid carrying overstock into the new year.

That would be "advance warning". I guess an advanced warning would involve pretty graphics and alarm sounds.
#26
Is this likely to be instore only or available on click and collect too?
#27
Thanks for the heads up.
#28
The stores near me have all been upgraded, so no stock on the shop floor, heat for the heads up though!

no teewoweedogs is right. They did a similar thing last year, i thought it would be items they were selling too, but they were actually selling the tables themselves. I think they replace them every year. Some good bargains to be had, the table i bought last year is still in use. Very sturdy.

yup, I got a great table last year, well apart from it was missing a leg, when they said 25% off I didn't realise that was what they meant!
