Refurbished Advent 4211 netbook, possibly the cheapest 10" XP netbook out there?

This is an MSI Wind rebadged BTW.

1.6Ghz Atom processor
Windows XP
80GB HDD

I have one of these and they are great.

Don't forget Quidco and any vouchers.

Sorry forgot to add £4.99 delivery.

Same deal at Dixons / Currys if better cashback / vouchers there.

I paid £230 for mine from PC World and love it to bits.

I would never buy a refurb from any DSGi store, they are very unrealiable and put together with parts from other broken machines, and to show how much faith DSGi have in their own refurbs have a look at the price of the extended warrienties for the new machine and the refurbs, at pcw the monthly extended warranty is double the price as the new machine and at dixons the 3 year warranty on the refurb is £180 and on the new machine it is £70.

Personally i would avoid this, if you need a netbook with pretty good spec with windows xp for not much money this probably seems like a good deal just be aware of the risks.

at 190 it would be worth it but for just 60 pounds or less savings it doesnt seem worth it for a possibly troublesome machine.

Hi chaps a word of warning about DSGi refurbs and returns i am in the process of returning a toshiba u400 i received the week before xmas, when it arrived the laptop was filthy and the packing was a disgrace ie: rattling about in the box with no adequate packaging.

since then i have had to call them 4-5 times as dhl have now failed to collect on 3 occasions and have been advised to have the package picked up from another address, what's that about.

Good luck to anyone ordering.

Mark.

You can get the branded MSI Wind brand new for £259 and that includes a bigger hard drive (120GB). Worth paying the extra £40 if you can.

Might as well buy the Advent 4212 or the Advent 4490 for £229 brand new!

There is some mertit to what you are saying but there is also a problem. firstly i would never buy an advent refurb, i know these were orginally msi wind machines but there is no way the refurbs were done by msi and therefore like most DSG reburbs these have probably been done to have a poor standard (personal opionion of course, although based on a lot of evidence.)

I believe that advent 4212 are rebadged ECS' G10IL1 which are again in my opionion a sub standard netbook for poor keyboard and i have heard they have some reliability issues, you are far better staying with something like the nc 10, msi wind or hp 1000/compaq 700.

and finally 4490 well if you can cope with 8.9" screen then you will probably be ok as i do believe that it is based on msi wind but from alot of reports the 8.9" screens are strain on the eyes if you are working on them for a long time.
