That link is the 4211c which has the 120gb hard drive so slighty better than this one as it only has an 80gb drive. I got this one last week in the same 195 offer. Im writing on it now, cant tell its refurbished and i installed Windows 7 on it last night which runs like a dream on it

Good deal. The MSI Wind and clones are the best of the Netbooks. This is the most basic of them with only 80GB and 3cell battery. But at this price it is a steal.

PC World have these at 199.99 and they have refurb 4211-c (bigger HDD) at £229.99

I believe these use standard 2.5" drives tho so you could, in theory, stick anything you wanted in there (I've heard reports of MSI Winds with 320Gb and even 500Gb drives!?)

3 cell batteries are standard on 4211s - which means 2-2.5hours at most - but you can get 6 and even 9 cell replacements. Cheapest place for a 6cell was the Medion online shop at one point, they sell 6 cells for the "Medion Akoya Mini" (basically the same machine) for £48 (+P&P I assume)

The NC10 still remains king of netbooks I think - but at these prices it looks pricey and the MSI Wind and clones run OSX really well which is quite a popular thing to do these days...

Hi, I'm not voting hot ot cold because this does not seem to be such a special deal. But it is slightly cheaper than price at Curry's and PC World.

Have had an eee 1000H for a few months. Only thing that lets it down is the case. Mine got warped by heat.

Got an NC10 on Friday. It's all up and running and I have to say it's teh best of the bunch I have used so far. I've played with a few netbooks. NC10 is my fave. Nice big screen, best keyboard, battery last twice as long as most others, hard drive is about as big s they come on net books and it's nice and light. Stick another GB of ram inside and it's top notch kit and great value for money. Cost's more but I guess you get what you of for most of teh time.

Erm... PC world, Dixons and Currys are all part of DSG, so essentially the same company...
Bit harsh voting it cold because the same company's stores have 3 different names?

I think this is a pretty damn good deal myself!

Lol - seems like you edited your post quite a bit so my comments probably aren't valid anymore

You won't find on sale outside of the Dixons group as it is specifically re-badged for them so its not really a surprise thats the only pricing you can find

upgrade it to 2gig for £8.99

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/345814/8-99-1-gig-memory-upgrade-for-adven/
not expired btw....

AWESOME Laptop,, i got a so called refurbed 4211c and its perfect cannot fault it in any way.
#16
I'm actually using my 4211 right now typing this! :-D

Had it since August '08, and really can't fault it. I really couldn't live without it now, used it every day, perfect for meetings, get quite a few comments on how smart it looks!

I've had OSX, Ubuntu, XP, Vista & 7 on it, all but Vista run excellently! :w00t:

Shame about the battery life (get 1 hour 50 mins tops) with the 3 cell, but I always end up near a power source anyway. This is where the NC10 shines, as you can get about 5-6 hours on one charge. But it depends...do you want a Macbook Nano, or better battery life?

Here's mine:

Hi, yeah I edited my post. Read what I it says.

I like to double check what I write and edit it as I see fit. So why aer you bothered waht my original said? I saw teh five pound difference. thought and thought little of it.

Go back to you computer mags

Enjoy that edit
#18
Cheers gari, I forgot about them all being part of teh same group and it being badged for them. Doh!

I expired that, as that the msi wind only has 1 memory slot, so you would have to but a 2gb stick to upgrade!

Nonsense. The Wind has 1GB onboard memory and a free memory slot. You only need a single spare 1GB to take it up to 2GB. This also applies to the Advent 4211. I know, since I have both and have upgraded both. You should unexpire that offer.

Ha ha.

Looks like it's you who should get back into the computer mags.

See if you can pick up a new keyboard :)

even if you were correct expiring an offer becuase it would not be suitable for one type of computer is hardly a good reason to do so, you can still get it for £8.99 and it will still work in load of other laptops including the Wind/4211/e1210.

lol and now you delete your post so you dont look stupid

well someone had posted in the thread it would not work in the 4211, so as that was in the title of the deal, and the memory was being posted for an upgrade i expired it.

If you dont agree, dont rant in here, simply report the other deal as not being unexpired!

no they didn't

"also good for Medion E1210 which is a rebadged Wind"
"NO NO NO NO scrap what I last said I was wrong, they are exactly the same except you dont have 2 slots you have one, so you have to replace the 1gb with a single 2gb....

mucho apologise "

I have had an NC10 (the battery failed in the first week) and an EEE PC 1000H and both the screen and sound are noticeably superior on the EEE PC

I have had this sonce the day it was released in PC world, excellent netbook except for the ****** battery on it. At this price I would definetly buy one more for my parents, atleast allows skype video chat with them. The camera, wireless, bluetooth, everything on this netbook is amazing, i Spent 279 when I bought it new.

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/345814/8-99-1-gig-memory-upgrade-for-adven/

Will any similar memory work with this Netbook?

I have just ordered the 4211, but want to upgrade the ram asap.

Any help would be great thanks.

Mine was delivered today too but I was out so DHL kindly left it with the neighbours - thing is their house has been in darkness since I got home from work !!

It's probably sitting on the other side of the wall as I type :-(

I'm out at 06:00 so I won't be able to knock them up then so hopefully it'll be tomorrow night before I have a play.

ARRRGGGGHHHHHH !!!!!!

So who's had one of these? What was the condition like? I'm on the look out for one of these and this looks a bargain - bit wary that it's a refurb though...

To be fair not sure what refurbed machines are like from DSG but as an alternative you could go for the Medion from Sainsbury's for £179.99.
