These are normally brand newish, like customer returns and come with a full year warranty, you can also buy a 9 cell battery for this off flebay for around £30 & another 1GB of Ram for £10, so like it would cost you £229.99 for a 2GB, 9 Cell, 10.2", 160GB HDD Netbook with XP and built in 3G!!!

£33.50 for a 9 cell battery on flebay.

£5 for a 1GB DDR2 stick of Ram of flebay.

= £38.50

£189.99 + £38.50 = £228.49 Delivered - [£222.79 After TopCashBack]

New Specs:

10.2" LCD Screen
2GB DDR2 Memory
160GB HDD
Windows XP
9 Cell Battery - Around 8 hours battery life
Built in 3G
Wireless Enabled
Built in speakers

That is cheap for a second hand 6 Cell 1GB Netbook, especially good deal is this one as it comes with a year warranty from Dixons.

Why is this cold? Is it cheaper elsewhere? On Flebay they go for around same price or if not more, and this comes with 1 year warranty...

A lot of people dont trust refurbs - especially from Dixons, etc..
A bought a refurb laptop from dixons - the OS blue screened on initial bootup - a complete reinstall using HD recovery solved this, later found out 1 of the 2 sticks of ram was faulty (no big deal - i was upgrading to 4GB anyway). Just be aware the Refurbs are not checked very well at all. I'm familiar with fixing PCs, but this could have been a niggle to those that are not.

On the plus side, it was like new condition, although it came in a plain brown box.

I think this looks a decent enough price, but a lot of people will buy the cheaper Linux setup like

"These are normally brand newish"

Is that similar to slightly deadish, or a touch pregnantish?

What the truth is is they are second-hand busted returns that might have been fixed up before putting back on sale, if you are lucky! Retailers dare not over-exaggerate about the condition of second-had products, as there are laws against it so why someone else wants to do it for them is even more strange :-(

It can be returned if it faulty...

You get built in 3G and extra 100GB HDD Space which is a lot for Laptops., and it is cheaper... :whistling:

Yeah, I know - In my case, there was no stock left so I decided to keep it and am happy now.

My point is that the Refurbs from Dixons are not checked property.

I agree, the price is decent for the Spec (and XP). The problem is a lot of people on HUKD are anti-Refurb, which is why this may get a slightly cold response.

Look, I see you trying to add your 2 cents.. and anti refurb? I would rather buy a refurb with a 1 year guarantee than a second hand one with no warranty from flebay.. In comparison, to flebay this is a good price..

It's only £229 delivered from PC world anyway, and there is 2.5% Quidco, what on earth would possess anyone to pay so little less for an old one!

Are these the one or two models from PCW with that awful cheap and nasty keyboard that looks like it's cut out of one piece of plastic? 4211 is the money refurb, can't go wrong with a rebadged MSI Wind for under £200.
