How on earth can this be cold? It's smaller than my NC10, but still has the Atom processor, a real hard disk and real ram; plus XP.

The only thing that unnerves me bout this deal; is that it kind of makes me worried that PcWorld are in trouble - so I'd pick this up in store, but I'd be scared of losing £199 if I ordered off the net.

Remember the "Land of Leather" January sale - the prices that seemed to good to be true? But were - as long as you took the goods away with you?

Hmmmn

smaller sceen, but appears to be the same size case. :?

Compared to the likes of the acer aspire which can be had in a select number of tescos for £199 is smaller ye has 1 gb of memory and at least a 120gb hdd it is up against stiff competition even at this price?

i just ordered the fiancee a asus eee 904ha for £240, atom 1.6, 160gb hdd, 1gb ram, 1.3mp cam 8.9"screen. looks far better and has a far better battery life.

Thought the Advent 4490 was the rebadged Msi u90 as per the comments on link above by another poster. Looking at the 4489 it appears to be based on a machine that really should be a 10in display as look at the size of that bezel which the msi u90 doesn't have as the whole machine is smaller than the 4489?

Nope, you are getting confused. The 4490 is another ECS model, I believe, which looks like a cross between the Wind and the Acer AA01. The 4489 is the Wind U90 in Advent's usual silver/black livery. The U90 is just the same 10" U100 chassis with a smaller screen and minus the bluetooth.

The £199 Acer comes with Linux. Sorry - in the real world, there's no comparison.

[FONT="Verdana"]Just to let everybody know this has been advertised previously on another thread from last year at the same price - there's also the other deal on for the ASUS EEE PC 904HD Netbook from Tesco (Instore), which is going for £199.00p, and the key differences is the memory is 1GB & the CPU is Celeron.

For a netbook the Celeron CPU is more than adequate enough to do the job - before anybody starts complaining about the Celeron CPU being slower you might want to check out this post on the ASUS EEE 904HD Netbook thread first, as it makes valid points.
