I brought one of these for 1p after I collected and reserved a while back, at the till, I did not have change of a fiver and she just game the receipt and off I went.. It is still stuck in the cupboard as it did not fit my friends laptop. Probably end up in a landfill.

I managed to order me one for collect at store!
What are the chances they will actually have the item when I arrive?

You might be better off ordering two or three judging by the battery life.

Yes, but they only had 1 in stock it seems. One is better than non!

I’m surprised it says only 1.5 hours as it’s a six cell battery which is normally good for 3 hours +. I guess they must be small cells!

Does anyone know how much these usually sell for?

That would be a useful comparison as to how hot the deal is i suppose.

Last time a similar deal was on I reserved one (yes only 1) to collect in store, the Wrexham branch reserve desk guy kept me waiting for 15 minutes before the store manager arrogantly said no chance, and refused to complete the sale

Only worth doing if you have a compatible laptop and a good local PC World team.

My blood pressure normally goes throught the roof when dealing with most DSGi staff. Other than the odd clued up staff member the rest are a waste of time,

If you're gonna buy it to flog it, you could at least do your own research:whistling:

Nice find to customers who want a battery for the phone if they have the phones that you can use the battery with

These batteries can not be that good even for 97p. There is still so much stock about.

I concur... same experience more than once, don't even bother going to any currys near me anymore unless I want to test something and that is it....

Absolutely spot on, did a quick search on ebay - nothing came up, couldn't be bothered to search any more.

alright - let me re-phrase it:

Does anyone want to find out whether these are worth flogging on ebay seeing as I really cannot be bothered to find out myself.

Clearly not, good research work simate - have a rep star for your efforts.

mmm, 1 sold for 19.99 recently, but there are also some on there for 99p. Now is this worth it.

Hey - maybe someone could calculate my profits for me too.:-D

Loads for sale, no-one buying them - I think s*d all would be a fair approximation of your ill-gotten gains!

No or it would say so in the specs

I got the last 3 of these I think from the Watford store today, and I know why theyre 97p now, all the cells in all 3 batteries are dead. PC World probably realised that selling them off like this is much cheaper than proper disposal of lithium ion batteries, and unfortunately you can't recharge these batteries once theyve gone below a certain point, which these batteries are long past :(

That was not my experience. The cells were down to around 0.7v, but they recharged OK, and have about 80-85% of their new capacity. The electronics in the battery pack may well refuse to charge the cells, but I removed them from the packs as I only wanted the cells anyway.
#25
ooh, what did you use to charge them up?

I used a Microlader pro (http://www.orbitronic.de/), but there are many different Lithium Ion chargers available.
You need to know what you are doing because they can become unstable and burst, catch fire or even explode if charged incorrectly. If you intend to charge them in series then you will need a balance charger. Discharge cycles also need to be controlled, so that the cells do not discharge too fast, or to too low a voltage.
