I know someone who bought this just a few days ago for £499. Wonder if they can go back to Currys to get the £100 from them?

These are dame so to start up.

Not good deal tho as Tesco have better spec at these price range with offers Intel Core 2 Duo instead.

The Pentium Dual Core featured belongs to the new range which is based on the Core2 architechure. It has less L2 cache than the other Core2duo processors;basically this is 1mb as opposed to 2mb to 4mb for the other Core2duo processors. This will affect performance a bit but for most average applications that this notebook will be used for this will be negligible!!

If shopping at Currys remember there are cashback/rebate opportunities - eg 1% Nectar eStores, 1.5% RPoints (has to be delivered, but £6 rebate and £4.95 delivery).

More importantly : remember that 'Advent' brand is in UK unique to DSGi and you're dealing with the DSGi group which many of us once bitten twice shy, prefer not to do EVER.

Why was it voted cold? Anyway, great price for such a laptop. Two years ago, such a laptop would easily have cost a grand. 17 inch screen, dual core, 1GB memory and 120GB HDD, very tempting..

I just bought this laptop, but i forget to take optional monthly product support, if i have problems with the laptop thay will repair or i must pay for that? I can take now the optional monthly product support, it's good for something?

You'll be covered for 1 year under statutory warranty anyway. Your best bet may be getting 3rd party insurance for it which will cover accidental damage and theft (typically around £40pa or £100 for 3 years).
