have to agree about advent, had quite a few of their pc's and laptops and am happy to say never had any problems with any of them,to anyone concerned about refurb machines..dont be,all my previous advent buys have been refurbs, they dont come in a fancy box but they had everything else and looked brand new, also im sure i read that these refurbs had a lower return rate as well.

the pentium dual core series of CPUs are simply Core 2 Duo CPUs with less L2 cache. The real world performance difference of less cache would only been seen in 3d games or video encoding, the end user would still struggle to see any noticable difference even then.

Considering this laptop has intergrated graphics, and looks like a browsing/office machinem, it is an ideal CPU.

My neighbour bought one of these a couple of months ago from PC World instore as his first PC, it was £299 brand new. I think from memory it was advertised in Currys at that price but we could only find it at PC World who did a price match.

It's not a bad machine, the speakers are very poor but the performance for basics was pretty good.

I bought two refurbs laptops from Currys last year, NEVER AGAIN! Neither of them worked properly. The service departmen (Tech Guys) is awfull, they keep your laptop for up to two weeks and then return it in the same non-working condition. If you do decide to purchase, test it thouroughly and make sure that you return within 28 days for a refund if it does not work. Those laptops look clean but have hidden faults which are difficult to spot and you only find out after thourough testing. That's probably why they have been returned by customers when they were new. I'd rather get a new dual core from Dell for the extra £50 (which I am typing this feedback on now and I am very happy with).

P.S. If you want to run Windows XP or Linux instead of Vista, forget Advent, there are only drivers for Vista

My friend has this exact laptop, but i reccomend that you change the OS to XP as the laptop will run a lot faster. Tagged as Hot !
