Good luck if you get one, mine didn't work out of the box, unfortunately misplaced a smal lethernet cable and can't return it until I find it! My set wouldn't work even plugged in next to each other at the same socket faceplate! I picked up a pair from eBuyer for around the same price and they worked a treat.

No, not now, you can get the 200Mb/s units for that sort of money. Some others around for similar prices to this too.

Plus Delivery @ £4.95 = £54.99 but can be collected free for those near enough to a PC World. [Remember 2.5% Quidco for online sales]

Some 85Mb.s units here at Dabs (I have these, but they were a LOT cheaper then:
http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=57S7&SearchType=1&SearchTerms=powerline&PageMode=3&SearchKey=All&SearchMode=All&NavigationKey=0 for £44.97 plus delivery = £50.96 so a good bit cheaper if you need the delivery option [plus 3% Quidco] They also have another model for a little more.
Voted neutral as it depends on which delivery option you need.

All seem to use the same chipset, so there is little if anything to choose between any of them, it is not as if Advent is any sort of desirable brand either.

I am very happy with my 85Mb/s kit, but if I was buying from now I would consider the 200's for HD and future capacity, as discussed in this recent thread: http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/237716/zyxel-pl-100-85mbps-powerline-homep/

eg. these 200 Mb/s ones come in close to 80 quid delivered: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/142059

For free delivery add a world of warcraft 99p disc, plus there's usually 5% vouchers floating around.

Id like to know if you get a twin pack and later decide you want to connect another PC can you get any 85 mbs homeplug or do you have to get another Advent one?

Similarly if you later decide to get a 200 mbs set for your main PC can you still use thees on a 2nd/3rd PC?

Could I use the 200 Mb/s one to send HD files from the PC downstairs to a TV upstairs, or would i need a second PC upstairs to receive the information?

You could use a media station similar to the one that was £40 on play posted recently:

HD?
Well, there is no stock anyway!

This will handle 720p HD: http://www.amazon.co.uk/D-Link-DSM-330-Connected-Wireless-Player/dp/B000X4F7RO/ref=pd_sim_ce_2 do't know if it is around cheaper, or anything better, as I don't have HD!

Good question!
Only have the two (I run 4 devices from one on an ethernet switch remotely from my router, and it handles that OK, although I usually only have two of the "remote" devices on at once. I was under the impression that if they were "Homeplug 1.0" compatible, they will work with each other, but how that works when you mix 58 & 200 Mb/s units, I don't know!

yes you could use the 200mbps units to send HD video over the network, but you would also need some sort of receiver. my recommendation is a second hand mac mini off ebay for £200-250 running PLEX (a fork of xbox media centre) - works a treat!
