Advent T9610 Refurbished £349.00

My PC has decided to die :( so i have been looking around at some machines, and came accross this

* Intel Core 2 QUAD Processor Q6600
* 2.4GHz, 1066MHz FSB, 8MB Cache
* Windows Vista (R) Home Premium
* 3GB Memory
* 250GB Hard Drive

Only one thing im unsure about is the graphics card. It says it has an Intel graphics card, but also on the same page it says Nvidia 8400...

I have had a advent laptop for 8 years and it still works... guess i must have been lucky, but at this price you cant go far wrong. Sorry if ive missed any vouchers!

you should buy a Mac, Vista is sh*t

well imo this seems a great price, heres a rough estimate for building yourself:
Case: £20
PSU: £30(generic)
CPU: £140
Ram: £30
Hard drive: £30
Motherboard: £40
+ Vista home premium- £55
= £345 and then i believe you need too add a generic keyboard+mouse, £5.

This is a good price especially for a pre-built. Only concern is the intergrated graphics or if it is the cheapy 8400, +£115 and get a bfg 9600GT, great card and a good price.

Voted hot.

edit: @ Bargain hunter, vista is OK, not ****. Macs=fail, pay £2k for a good system(ish) and yet a £500 pc could beat it by miles(mine does xD). Mac has expansions too its OS every year i believe and are around £100 each.... 10 new packs so far? yet xp---> vista, one change.
And also this isnt for saying whats **** and isnt, its for price.

Yep, but I'd go for this Coolermaster Elite 330 with 450w PSU for £43 :thumbsup:

Hudson92;1832947
+£115 and get a bfg 9600GT, great card and a good price.
May need changing the PSU as well. The similar £359 Dell Inspiron 530 can take a 8800GT without upgrading the PSU.

If you are replacing an existing computer Dylan is, then it would be worth spending a little more and get a Mac Mini and use your existing screen, mouse and keyboard (and ask for the proper Apple ones for next Xmas)

Mac Mini is only £399 + free printer at the moment.
http://www.apple.com/uk/macmini/

Plus you always see those £23 off codes online, or call Apple and they always offer you something extra with your order and still claim back the free printer online after you have ordered.

i voted hot.

I dont understand people who say 'get a mac, vista is ****'

Mac is hardware and vista is software.

Its your chosing what you put on your mac hardware, it comes preinstalled with tiger or leopard or what have you but its your choice what os you put on. you can put linux, windows or mac os on it.
#13
Mac is hardware + software from the same people = better operation

Mac's are better, fact. Fair enough the hardware is a little more expensive but so much more worth it

Mac OS X is far better the Vista, and why should you go back to XP. Just full of virus 'n junk

this is a hardware deal.

OS X Leopard / Windows XP / Vista / Linux comments are not welcome. why does every thread have a "ZOMG LINUX KERN3LZZ!!!" or "Mac's are beautiful machines" "vista is *****" comments?
#15
wow thats a ridiculous statement as macs are just glorified pcs now, as they use the same chips. you could quite happily buy a xeon core pc and put leopard on it and it would basically be the same thing.

the reason people prefer macs is just down to style now, ive seen alot of people buys macs and then install vista or xp on it just because they like the case.

its all down to personal choice and what you use the machine for, personally i dont like the mac UI and would go for a customised version of linux any day.

but back to this deal....voted hot!

And yet macs still only have a minute percentage of home users buying their machines.
Maybe because they are overpriced and lack the massive software catalogue that PC's have.

As for XP being full of virii, in the last 3 years I've never had an infection. The only people who do are those that have innadequate protection and are careless with what they choose to install (you know, like "PMG, I can use this crack that's an executable file to enable full usage of *softare name here**, even it it was written by a hacker"). The only reason Macs have nearly no virus problems is because hackers couldn't care less about Macs, no enough people have them to warrant the time used to create one.

Hey, already have a MAC mini, however, i need a PC, as i use Visual Studio 2005, and 2008 plus many other PC only programs. I know wiht the new ones you can install XP or Vista, but you are never going to get the power that you have with this mahcine in a mac mini

But its brand new not reconditioned, a gig of ram will set you back £10, and the hard drive is twice as big, seems a far better bargain, sorry

Macs are not better then linux/vista/xp etc etc, fact. Its down to personal preference. Mac computers/laptops are the most expensive computing equipment and are a joke compared to price vs performance. You pay more for games for mac, come out later oh and they sometimes dont even come out.
Vista is not the best OS by microsoft, that is true but not the way you are talking about. Hardware+ software=not true, the hardware is made by the specific manufacturer e.g. intel make the cpu in the mac mini(which is a joke for the speed+price). For a mac the same spec as my computer it would cost an easy £2k+ where as mine costed me £550 for all decent branded stuff.

Next time dont just talk **** about o/s actually look into the offer/deal, thats the whole point of this website. Also, 1 word and 1 number, windows 7..... lets just say that could potentially kill mac again.

Yes, only £50 more for 1/3 the ram, half the processor and 1/3 the hard drive space.

i sometimes wonder whether anyone who says that vista is **** has ever actually used it.

each to their own anyway.

i've used windows since it was 95, have had 98, XP and Vista. i have no problems with them personally, i find them to have their uses. my only problem with vista was just how resource intensive it was, i had a dual core laptop 2ghz 2gm ram and it ran pretty poorly, some software i wanted to use (an autocad file reader thingy) wouldnt work, which was pretty important, so that was me rather fecked as it would be needed for work.

i've tried Ubuntu aswell and couldnt be bothered with the constant tinkering.

now i own a MacBook, 2.2GHZ 2GB ram and it flies. it has Leopard which is an impressive operating system. im a newbie and im still amazed at some of the features, my favourite so far being spaces. time machine is handy aswell. :thumbsup: it takes around 10 seconds from power on to being fully functional, where as with vista it was around a minute, maybe a minute and a half.

like you say, each to their own, and if somebody wants to pay the premium for a Mac, then let them.

i'd imagine the Mac bashers are the ones that have never used OS X and just judge on the price of the hardware.:thinking:

Im running Vista on a 2.2 core 2 duo and it flies, nothing seems to slow it down
