Why no flash then? Trying to compete with the ipads lack of flash?
#7
they did initially ship with flash, but it was a non adobe certified version and it was removed from all future shipments. they are currently going through accreditation just now, and expect the update to be available early 2011

Is there a 3rd party flash product to download in the interim??

Had one for two weeks nearly and flashed with the Custom Rom at MoDaCo and have USB Host and Slave working thanks to the community on that forum..

If I was to get an Android Tablet, this would be it. Would have been nice to have 3G, but not a deal breaker for me. Thanks for posting this.
#12

I know I ask this time and time again but.... Why on earth do you want yet another 3G contract or cost, just tether your existing 3G phone???!!!

So many free applications to enable your phone handset as a wifi hotspot and it works very well.
#14
do you have to open a web page on it every day in december up to xmas??

How is the video playback on this especially for MKV files and Xvid as am thinking about this as. Also does it have GPS

Thanks

No GPS but there are £5 bluetooth GPS devices on ebay all accounts that worth with it.

XVID is fine MKV support not so great, but it will playback 1080p if converted in Handbreak.

I was going to get one but after reading loads of reviews went with the ipad, its not the Vega thats the issue its android, android was designed to run on a mobile phone and the apps are not compatible with such a size screen. You can flash a custom rom to the Vega that puts on the proper market place but that's a bit useless when the apps wont work. Every review ive read have said that the would avoid an android tablet till Goggle release the OS that supports the apps properly, its just to early for the market and very soon after Christmas there will be loads more tablets so i would wait.

The price is good at £239 with quidco but its not going to be all you had hoped.

Christmas present for daughter. I've resisted the temptation to open the box and have a play.

Well, I have a dongle, I oculd instead use the 3G off of that sim instead, and the reason for asking for 3G is simply "why not?". They could have easily integrated a SIM slot but they didn't. I don't thinkkeeping the costs down was the reason, and more of a "if you put 3G on that we won't support it at all" from all the carriers.

Samsung got away with it on the Tab, since it's probably being passed as a big phone anyway, but still look at the carriers dissing it by not giving it a proper price plan.

Not everyone has got a mobile phone that can tether.

Looks like a waste of £250 to me when you could have got an iPad for a slighty more during the various offers posted on here. What is the OS? What can it do apart from the stuff it ships with? What software can be installed on it?

Sorry missed that it runs Android so has some half decent apps.

My son got a Vega for his twelfth birthday last week. Flash is simple to 'reinstall' and Modaco upgrade is ace - I'm not particularly techy and took a while to get my computer up to spped but fairly painless to install. He is 'made up' with it and has downloaded a shed load of apps with no probs yet.

Only two things I am not sure of is the longevity compared with say his DS (six years still in use) regarding interest and build quality and wouldn't have bought myself for £250ish (it was a present from his nan!).

But, it it does seem to be an Ipad plus with all the common apps (bloody Angry Birds!) plus iplayer /youtube etc...

i looked at my account and it didnt popup.... is this normal, is there a delay to the "tracker" thanks

Great to see a higher quality tablet getting this cheap already. 800x is a deal breaker for me but apart from that it looks like a fab tab.

I didn't realise until this video that it comes with a stylus. Doesn't it work using just a finger?.

You don't need a Stylus to use this...And it doesn't comes with a stylus either....

My vega came today you should see the state of the box both sides ripped corner crushed. I have had a look it dosnt seem to have been used the accesories are all unwrapped and the screen cover is still on (All be it with bubbles)

THing is the ipad I ordered for £328 showed up from viking as well. I guess the mrs gets the vega at least I can comapre them.

TBH I just had a look at the vega and its much more solid and more expensive looking than I was expecting !
