Was the £25 off voucher just a personal one or can anyone use it? If anyone can use it you could post the code and change the deal price to "£225 (possibly £219 with quidco)" and it may get hotter.

The codes are all on the Quidco website search for currys it depends how much your spending and on what as to which code you use.

Go ahead and order if you want, but you will be disappointed with the screen viewing angles.

I don't want to view it from an obscure angle whilst standing on my head. How is it when holding it straight in front of you and sitting down position ie on a sofa?

Seriously thinking of getting this, but reckon the wife will think she is just being fobbed off with a cheap ipad clone, as opposed to the real thing. She'd have a point....

Will the custom rom do 2.2 android and market place?

Custom ROM and performance pack from Modaco make a massive difference and will get you marketplace. I'm new to Android and getting my head around the whole thing, but from what I understand Gingerbread (Teapot/Barbecue/Biscuit/whatever) update in the new year will bring it up to speed.

As for viewing angle - it can be a pain, but then so can my netbook. The difference is that the netbook has a flat base which keeps the screen at a certain angle. The advent relies on my arms and wrists so it can go all over the place.

Luckily the user management interface of my own arms is easily controlled and I can quickly bring them back into line.

Cheap iPad clone? Its certainly cheaper. A lot cheaper - but it arguably it can do so much more and you definitely get more bang for your buck. The only thing I can think of that it can't do and the iPad can is wireless N, so major dramas there. Weigh that up against the fact that it handles Flash and the iPad can't. Try fobbing the wife of with an iPad when she can't get on the websites she wants because they are flash enabled (of course you could modify it, but then you're back in the world of the vega so why not go with that in the first place)?

The Tegra 2 benchmarks on Anadtech make it look like a much better machine than the tab, assuming you read much into benchmarks!

Ooh, that is nice. Me want.

Looking at the specs though (and the design), I can't see that being anywhere near the price of the Vega.

I'll hold my opinion on the Notion Ink until someone gets a thorough look at a working unit and it has been confirmed android marketplace is either on the product or can easily be put on there.

It does look really nice on paper though.

Going through their blog, looks like I may have to revise my opinion. Look slike the cheapest model is $375 plus $50 shipping which comes in around £270. Think I'll keep my eye on this one...

Don't be expecting an iPad with this device. It's very raw and will require more polishing before it can approach that level of ease-of-use.
The underlying hardware is better than that in the iPad. The software (Android 2.2) is still, at best, unfinished and possibly even unfit. Google themselves have said that they don't consider it to be an operating system. for this size of display. There's also no in-built app store so you'll have to find them for yourself (there's a few sites around) if you need anything beyond the basic web browsing, email and ebook software that come with the device (although these seem to work as well as any other I've experienced).

Having said all that, I finally managed to buy one about a week ago and it arrived last wednesday and, for me, it's worth the £250. The form factor (10.1" with 1,024 horizontal resolution in landscape) feels right to me. Whereas any lower resolution makes web browsing awkward and a smaller screen makes it difficult to read.
If they get the software right (possibly Android 3.0, if it can run on this) then it'll be worth more down the road.

Notion Ink Adam all the way...expect the QI screen versions will be back on for pre-order soon. Looks one of the best designs to come out for a long time, and at a price that isn't insulting for what it is.

Actually bought one of the first Vegas but it was faulty on arrival, which was probably a blessing. Sadly DSG have probably lost any momentum with the Vega by not having them in stock. Wouldn't rule one out for the money though...very good value compared with others out there currently.
