Not for everyone but I can recommend this hotel for afternoon teas-not as nice as The Park Lane Hotel but MUCH cheaper! Lots of sandwiches and cakes when I went.By the time you have had a sandwich, tea and cake in the coffee shop chains that are all over London,it wouldn't cost you any less and is much nicer. As for the 12.5 service charge-just ask them to remove it as you wish to tip in cash and then it's up to you whether the service warrants a tip or not.

Situated on prestigious Jermyn Street, in the heart of Mayfair, parallel to Piccadilly, The Cavendish London is a a contemporary and stylish 4 Star Deluxe hotel.

During March The Cavendish are offering Afternoon Tea for two at the exclusive price of just £22 (normally £18 per person), when booked via this website.

The Cavendish Afternoon Tea includes an extensive selection of Fairtrade teas and coffees, accompanied by a selection of freshly-made sandwiches, scones with clotted cream and preserves, mini pastries and tartlets.

This offer is available Monday to Friday only until 31st March 2011 and must be booked at least 24 hours in advance using the calendar below. Please note that groups of more than 6 people will be seated in the restaurant. A discretionary 12.5% service charge will be added to your bill.

Afternoon tea?

I'll just phone my chauffeur to see if he's free to take me :|

Afternoon tea is great and that's a good price. More filling than it sounds too.

Cucumber sandwiches what! I say old boy, I hope they peel the cucumber first and cut the crust off the bread.

Sounds good but I had a bad experience AT A DIFFERENT HOTEL I must hasten to add. Went with colleagues from work and we only had about 3-4 small sandwiches each when it ran out and we had to buy additional sandwiches! Ended up costly more than stated and it wasn't particularly good anyway.

Hopefully this is ok.

Anyone who blows £11 each on a spot of tea and buns should be banned from having money and sectioned immediately.

Do you have to own a fiat 500 too?

"A discretionary 12.5% service charge will be added to your bill." Where's the discretion in that!

Thank you for all of the imaginative comments from new labour about the class system.......much appreciated!
But I still like a cuppa,a cake and a sandwich as much as the next person-costs me over £10 in C**ta coffee so this is a bargain and I look forward to taking my nan when she visits.
I knew i would get ripped by a certain section of hot deals-always do when I post these but i shall post them anyway....toodle pip oiks!!

Nothing at all to do with the class system. 'Deals' like this will always attract a serious amount of mickey taking.
