Air Asia, from 4.00 pm have started their free flights campaign. You have to pay taxes and extras for meals and baggage etc.

We just managed to book a one way flight (25 October) from Kualar Lumpur to Brisbane for 391 ringits = £72.70 (£36.35 each) for the two of us including baggage up to 20kgs, meals, prebooked seats and the Skybus to the LCCT terminal. This ties in nicely with our flight London to KL which we bagged when they were offering them for £99 + extras

Book from 10th February - 15th 2009, Travel from 12th October 2009 - 31st January 2010.

The site is rather slow, presumably due to demand, but it gets there eventually.

We are also looking at flights to Langkawi which are free (100 ringits with taxes and luggage = £18.60 (also back from Langkawi is 100 ringits). But the normal flights are only 35 ringits each way, so not such a bargain

Hope this is of use to some folks

Nice price. sounds like a good deal to me. £36.35 per person is fantastic.

really good price if you're over in that part of the world =) shame gatwick-kl isn't included eh!

heat added!

£283 return Stansted-KL, Sunday 25/10 - Sunday 1/11. This is the basic price, including fees and taxes but no baggage allowances, etc.... So, the cost to Australia would only be around £350/person. Bargain!

Here are the details from the confirmation, so you can get an idea of the extras. Where is shows double the price that is per person and where it is one price, that is for the two of us

For those of you who are looking to travel over the Christmas period to Brisbane, I did a quick look flights for two, Stansted to Kulala Lumpar then on to Brisbane and returning in the New Year, will cost around £1000 for two! Typically flights to Australia at this time are near £1500!

Again negative bias in reporting accepted, but if you are flying to new destinations, it would be better not to get stuck with cancellations.....

but good deal if you're local and can deal with last minute changes

This is the key with Air Asia. These prices are very tempting, but their service can be very very poor. Be very careful booking conecting flights on the same day!

We have now managed to bag a free flight back to KL from Perth - 7th January for £132.30 (£66.15 each) all including baggage, meals prebooked seats and Skybus.

Dearer than the free flight KL to Brisbane I first posted, but hey, still a billy bargain.

Oh, and flight back to London, not free, but only cost £256.44 all in (£128.22 each)

So that's our Oz trip booked. Got 2 weeks in Malaysia and then 2 and half months in Australia.!!!!

2 and a half months in Oz and you are worried about saving a few hundred quid! Either way, you'll have a great time, especially that time of year.

was about to book and then found this

http://mymalaysia.wordpress.com/2007/03/19/air-asia-plane-crash/

Any idea if this is true? I read that One-Two-Go had a crash in Sept 07 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/6997381.stm

If you read the links within the comments after the pictures you see that the plane overshot the runway in wet weather. If you decided to not fly with people because of incidents like that, i would think you would be taking the boat everywhere.

What has the one two go crash in Phuket got to do with your decsion to fly with Air Asia? It is a totally different airline.
#22
to my knowledge and experience, air asia is safe and just as good as MAS. My husband worried on this point too but was satisfied after doing numerous search on Air Asia.

If you read around the subject of this blog some people confused the one 2 go crash with this. So I was just clarifying that this was a separate issue

Sorry, i did not read what you put in that way. That is the problem with forums, peoples wording can be taken in so many ways.

To answer your question, i believe Air Asia to be as safe as other airlines and i would not hesitate to fly with them. I have flown short haul with them and never encountered a problem other than slight delays. I would say that is the main bug bear people have with them.
