Now then, got this done the other day and can only say i am very pleased with it.
It was the cheapest price i could find for a recharge. Limited price offer before they put the price up. (think its the last few weeks at this offer price)

Heres what they do:
1. Take your car in, they will hook it up to a machine.
2. Its a fool proof machine, all they do is connect 2 pipes from the machine to the car (so even a monkey cant mess it up)
3. They enter the car info into the machine, make model and things like that.
4. The machine does everything from there
Lasts about 30mins to an hour (mines took about 40)
Best thing is machine will
Look for leaks in the air con system
along with recharging the gas and adding oil

At the end the manager asked me to check if it was cooler and if i was happy with the service.

Got ice cold air for summer for a decent price, would highly recom to all.

props to highguyuk for posting this over a year ago, but i think it deserves to be posted again

Let the kwik fit horror stories comence...

ps- they offer some cooler air or your money back promise thing also

Never had any problems with KF. I wonder if this would sort out my air con which has completely stopped working.

* Please note if the ambient temperature around the car is less than 9 degrees Celsius it may affect the results of the AirCon recharge test results. In these circumstances, it is at the managers discretion whether to offer a refund with results less than 10%.

Best wait until we get better weather then.

yeh, mine was not working either. At the end the machine prints out a small copy of the results with techno stuff on it- mine was 0% air con gas before having it done. works like new now

The problem is, if your car was at 0%, there is potentially a fault which means you are happy for now, but a short period later, you will be back to 0%.

I have a massive distrust of Kwik Fit, we all know they get commision, I took my car there once as I had a 30% of MOT voucher, they found so much wrong with it including replacing all the discs and brakes, I smelt a rat, rejected the work, took it to the local peugeot main dealer, who passed it first time.

When I told them what they found he was in disbelief but not surprised, so be warned!

I am sure there are good ones, but the Dereham branch is an absoulete con-shop!

You should have reported them. The failure is now on your cars record should you want to sell it.

your mot records can be found here. http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/

The Dereham Branch of Kwik-Fitup Now have an official massive Banner Up outside their branch Denouncing the name of Aeschylus...........How could you disagree with such expertise at their fingertips madness madness...............;-)

I'v e had my car since new and the air con wasn't working 100% despite taking it back numerous times to the dealer as it was still under warranty. A year out of warranty it stopped working completely and I called out an air con "specialist" - turned out he was the same one the dealer had used. Anyway, he hooked up the machine and hey presto it was working again like new. I asked him why he hadn't been able to get it working before and, credit to his honesty, he apologised and told me his old machine wasn't very good and he had just got this new one. So last year I noticed the air con wasn't as cold as it should be and decided to take it to kwik fit who did a great job, if anything it was colder than it had ever been.

To sum up, I think it is down to the machine they use, how old it is, how well looked after etc.. I wouldn't worry about going to kwik fit for this reason. As kwik fit have only started doing this recently I would imagine their machines are fairly new and ther's always the promise of your money back if they can't show a reasonable difference before and after (10% I think)

I had my AC recharged by them but problem persisted. Went to my dealer (without telling him I had to been to Kwikfit) and he said there was air in the system. Nothing against this post but go back and complain if recharge quality is in doubt.
#15
just phoned local quick fit it is a ongoing offer guy said it lasts until end april will def be getting mine done cheers 4 the heads up :)
#16
i want mine doing is that £25 all in including vat if so seems cheap went i asked before i was quoted £40-£50 quid
#17
I wouldn't let Kwik Fit repair my pushbike, let alone let them near my car.
#18
how much do they normally charge?
#19
Common sense tells me to avoid Kwik Fit like they plague, "...your discs are shot mate". but this price has got me sorely tempted.
#20
summer price for this top up is £45. they drop the price every winter as they know there wont be many takers.
#21
Cold
#22
Hot Deal though... My five year old + motor needs some TLC
#23
Got mine done 2 years ago at this price. But I think it needs doing again....doesn't seem cold enough at the mo.

At last a man with sense......I know this is good for some people fair enough BUT i totally agree with this guy..........i'd have more faith in monkeys swinging from a 3 to a 4 poster ramp banging hammers and chisels together than let em near a car.

They can't muck up when doing this job as its all done by the machine.

This is the one job you can trust kwik fit to do.
I had mine done last year by them.

What happens when they find a model with only a high pressure valve?

my car is 6 years old from showroom with air con pretty much used daily

Kwik Fit could " muck up " just raising your bonnet.

just a word of warning to all who maybe thinking of having this done. i took mine to these cowboys last year and the numptys burst one of my pipes and didnt bother to tell me they just said that the refill didnt work and that i might have a problem with my air con and suggested another garage down the road that specialise in air con should have a look.smelling a rat i spoke to a friend who has a garage but dosnt do air con so he put me on to someone else who does. they had a look for me and laughed at what they found.

from the ops description step 2
2. Its a fool proof machine, all they do is connect 2 pipes from the machine to the car (so even a monkey cant mess it up)

these guys must have been a lower race than monkeys then cos they only connected one pipe as they couldnt be bothered to take the wheel off to get to the other one so over presured one side and pop went the pipe.
my addvice stay away.

if it still gets cold why bother?
BTW critster you just made my mind up for me. I'm not letting Kwik-Fit near my car
#34
The question is:
" who is most stupid "?
The monkey that puts a spanner in the works or the person who still chooses to use the monkey because it only costs peanuts.

good on ya mate. my wifes car needs doing but i would rather pay double the price than let these idiots lose on it
#36
got mine and the mrs done at quick fit last year and they did a really good job, needs doing every 2 years but at this price i might get it done again. Always distrusted them too however they were really good and i have had quite a few jobs done since then and cant fault them
#37
i think you need to take notice of these guys and give them the publicity they need to change - i have given them so many chances
#38
Cheap for a reason!!! Might as well have monkeys operating the machine from my experience!
#39
i wouldnt trust kwik fit at all, took my car for a puncture repair 1 week after it had had an MOT and passed, they told me they had noticed my rear brake cylinders were both leaking ,and my front brake bads were below the minimum required which had resulted in my brake discs warping, told me he could fix them all for £380 quid.

when i told him it had just passed its MOT a week ago which was its first MOT,and had passed with flying colours,he just looked at me with a blank expression, tried to wriggle his way out of it,i said "thanks for pointing the faults out to me,i will contact the guy who done the MOT and ask him about it,i will also contact the DVLA and tell them i have been given a dodgy MOT and ask them to speak to you as you have looked at the the car found the faults, also i see you are a qualified MOT tester so will qoute your name and REG number when i contact them"........you should have seen the look on his face..:p

couldnt believe the first load of posts but then the sensible people got involved from page 2, good price but again another who wouldnt let they touch my car again. Free brake check would have cost me £400 took it to a small local garage who charged me £70, when I said how was it that cheap he told me you went to Kwik fit didnt you, most of it didnt need doing.
