me too

29" seat pitch for long haul would be a killer. Ryanair have more legroom!

Its 32" seat pitch on air asia x in fact which is better then some full price airlines

I went late 2009, really good service....for the price, however we got £180 RETURN from London -KL.

Bargain at that price & you can hire inflight entertainment & food great value but whats the cheapest return anyone has found?

I cant seem to get on the website.

Finally got tickets to KL late may, returning mid Jun for £672 (£336 each) return. Was very happy with that, and very glad that I didn't get up at 5AM as I originally planned. The website gradually seems to be returning to function, and I booked these about half an hour ago. Next year's hols sorted!

Some friends were telling us that their relatives had recently flown over from Oz with Air Asia and it was so bad that they'd ditched their return flights and paid again to return with Emirates.

What was so wrong that they decided to spend extra bucks?

Somehow hard to imagine how bad things could be to warrant the immense cost for short notice long-haul flights. Seems very unlikely based on the experiences of others.

My last flight STN -> KUL with Air Asia on Feb 5 was cancelled with less than 24 hours notice!! Luckily I got an earlier flight but most didn't (they sent an email without hiding everyone's address so I know how little they helped other travellers).

They recently pulled out of the KUL -> Haikou route and have still not refunded my money (I booked last August at one of their last "Big Sales").

Don't get me wrong, they're OK if you can avoid some of the silly add-on charges they have (I was up at 5am booking 8 one-way trips within Asia that didn't carry a fuel-surcharge) but I wouldn't trust them and always have a back-up plan. Certainly wouldn't book an on-ward flight with less than a 4 hour wait in between though.

So glad I bought 2 return trips with Malaysia Airlines to KUL @ £301 RTN (including fuel-surcharge, carbon offsetting, bags, meals/drinks, convenience fee) two weeks ago, I trust them a whole lot more.

Don't see anything from London on the special offers, anyone had any flying from London and where to?
#26
We've flown with Air Asia X to OZ 3 times (via KL), no problems at all and last year it was about £390
return with the best deals including taxes etc.
#27
I travelled with them two years ago when someone put an offer here, it was so cheap back then two ppl with luggage for £450 return.

Its not like that anymore however still cheap. very tempted. KL is amazing, i have also took internal flights with air asia and they are really good.

I've booked AA 4 times between UK and KL and cheapest I ever got was £214rtn to KUL inc baggage, exit-row seats and meal in Jan 2010 but those days are long gone.

There's £106 airport taxes, £40 fuel surcharge, £18 carbon offsetting, minimum £26 baggage, £18 standard seat (£56 exit row), £12 convenience fee.

Best fare I've seen lately was when they did a B.o.g.o.f. offer to their Facebook fans via a special link.

Pretty much everything apparently: delayed flights, booked extras weren't provided, miniscule seat space, seats themselves knackered, food ran out, drinks ran out, little in-flight entertainment for kids then it broke down altogether, luggage bashed about ...

Makes Ryanair seem like the height of luxury!

I have travelled on many long haul flights around the world and rate Air Asia tops in the budget airline category. Their flights around South East Asia are amazingly cheap and put Ryanair and easyjet to shame. I am 6ft2inches tall and had absolutely no problem in cattle class from London to KL earlier this year. If you like wasting money - spend it on other airlines rather than **** off a top budget airline who has excellent offers on the table. If someone knows of a cheaper long haul airline into South East Asia from London, then share it with us so we can compare.

Funny that. Every time I fly with Emirates, I feel like ditching the return journey and booking up with a better airline. That is one airline that fails to impress me - every time.

Tend to agree. Emirates are nowhere near as good as they used to be. AirAsia, on the other hand, are excellent. Low cost but not low quality.
