Airfix - Plastic Scale Model Kit of the Ford Escort Mark 1 - £4.50 delivered @ Hawkins Bazaar

Airfix has been producing scale plastic model kits for a mass market since 1952. It all began with a promotional model made for Ferguson tractors which proved to be so popular that it was subsequently sold as a toy. To make the toy cheaper and increase sales it began to be sold as a kit to build at home with detailed instructions, and thus the enormously popular and successful Airfix kits arrived on the market. Fathers and grandfathers will have fond memories of building Airfix with their children in many enthralling designs. These classic kits come with acrylic paints, good quality brushes, poly cement (glue) and very detailed instructions for construction. A splendid opportunity for a new generation to engage with the joy of Airfix modelling and for those who made them as a youngster, a chance to revisit the hobby and perhaps bring greater skills to the task!

* Ford Escort 1:32 scale 12.5cm

But is it a 1300E?

My older brother had a Escort Mk1 Mexico when I was a teen and me and my m8's thought it was the Mutz Nutz (red with a white stipe along the sides). Great old cars and this is a great deal ! Heat added for nostalgia value.

The sale has already been posted, why do people insist on posting items from the sale!

have you seen the number of posting for choicesuk, littlewoods, debenhams, bhs, mand s....

people sometimes miss the original generic post
and if this were to be applied across the board , lets stop listing for tesco, sainsbury aldi lidil ect,
yes they can be a bit repetitive but until such point as they all get cold ( they will not) this will happenn,

also op in this case has taken time to visit and pick an offer not just re post an email they recieved

Based on the pictures it's a pretty poor model of the lovely old Escort. Hot for nostalgia, cold for the product I think.

I can remember early 1300super's with the rectangular headlights as well as XL's, GT's and E's.
Lots of nostalgic pics here - http://www.1300eownersclub.org/page3.htm

Ha!
A pal of mine had one of those back in the day......it was such a laugh to drive, the self-centering on the steering went on it & you had to correct the steering after ever movement.

I myself can admit to a 1300 coupé in that tasteful orange they used to do!
Just like this one - http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/d3/Morris_Marina_1300_Wien.jpg/800px-Morris_Marina_1300_Wien.jpg

OMG
I've just been to the wiki site and Morris Australia experimented with a V8 version of the Marina.

Mine didn't have rust, just filler...I think it was 2 cars joined together. 1100L 1969.

quite like the marmite sandwich box too :p
#27
Has anyone noticed the size of it, only 12cms long :(

Bargain price but not with the £3.99 UK delivery - brings it close to the retail price of £9 ish.
Comments about the headlamps - the Airfix model has (if I recall correctly) the square headlamps as fitted to the early Super, GT, Twin Cam and later 1300E models. Most Escorts MK1's had round headlamps, and many more were coverted to round.
