What am I missing, why the massive price disparities?
Spitfire Vb reduced from £49.99 to £29.99
BF109E-4 1:24 reduced from £59.99 to £19.99
Typhoon Ib 1:24 reduced from £99.99 to £69.99

Well the Typhoon is much newer and a very popular kit I guess so it was never going to receive a huge discount like the 109, any discount is nice. There are some really good deals though such as the huge 1/48 Merlin for £19.99.

They added some new lines yesterday. RE: the post about getting out more, fresh air is good as it exercise (and I'd recommend both as one of the best things you can do to improve your health), but on a cold winters night that's not always practical.

I built models with my father, the skills I learnt as a kid doing that have translated very nicely to DIY nowadays and as a result I rarely have to pay trades people to undertake work for me. So for kids I see no harm in these, they're quite educational, as is the history behind some of the planes. For an adult (who spends most of their day in front of a PC for work) not looking at a screen of some variety is quite refreshing I'd imagine.

Do people still do these??
No, the entire Airfix business is a work of fiction, pretending to sell model kits.
What I meant is, you should all get out more.
Because going on the Internet to try and be a smart ass is the pinnacle of your busy and fulfilling social life?
I think you were trying to be the smart ass with your retort to my initial comment. So sit down sunshine.

So you felt the need to insult everybody else also? I'm not sure what your issue is, in an age where millions of people sit on the couch all day shooting Russians in the face on Call of duty etc, this kind of hobby that teaches some genuine skills and even social interaction should probably be encouraged rather than mocked.

£75 would normally be a steal for that kit.
Seems i was a bit hasty with the Typhoon. That seems like a special model, although wonderland are doing it for £75. Heat from me.
They may not be "Worth" that amount in real terms, but as a deal, you cannot get the typhoon this cheap anywhere else.

The spit and the hurricane do come on offer occasionally, and i'm sure in a few years the typhoon will reduce further, but not for a long time yet.

I get the saving claimed by airfix, but it doesn't seem that great a deal to me. The wulf is about 37 cms long. So at the usual price, that's £58 for a plastic plane 37cms long. And £100 for the Typhoon. Really?

I bought a 1:24 scale Hurricane from Debenhams for £18 at Christmas. Still haven't opened it. Now that was a good deal...

Would buy them. Build them (with care). Wreck them (mainly burning them in the back garden). Think I was heavily influenced by inhaling the polystyrene cement too often. Kaboom!

Fixed.

My 10 yr old had this kit for his birthday last year and has just about now finished it! Its quite a complicated thing to construct, as a lot of the Airfix are for younger kids but he has absolutely LOVED doing it with some help from Dad! My verdict would be perfect for the kid that likes to potter but not suitable for younger kids. Would say this is a good price - its a big kit.
Isn't this supposed to be the site for discussing whether the deal is hot or not? Has anyone got any comments or views on whether the Airfix kit is a good deal for the money?
Oh and by the way I am a registered supporter of the RNLI as I believe direct donations to the charity you believe in is better than using third parties.
thanks
If you feel a 60 pence donation to be too meagre.....

Hmmm, the male tank is a pound cheaper, I wonder why!
£2.49 p&p if spending less than £40. Love the kit but way too much with p&p.
