buyer beware. Argos have a habit of making great claims regaurds price. just a quick search revealed this http://www.housecharm.co.uk/items/104-6603092/Airsprung-Madison-Memory-King-Size-Mattress.html. a king size of the same mattress through a third party from argos. at 226 quid also you can't find this model with any major bed retailers????

Not sure where you guys live but where i live in wigan, Spargo Beds are shutting down due to credit crunch, so are selling mattresses and beds very very cheap. we went last week to buy one but decided to wait and glad we did. Before the price reductions the double beds with base, with storage and memory foam mattress (the dearest one) was £350 so were going today to pick one up and see what discount there is! just a thoght in case you lived near wigan xxxx

I got a rest assured pocket spring from Mattressman. They do Quidco too.

Great mattress and a pocket spring for £199.

It will only have a thin layer of the memory foam on top of the springs as we have found out through extensive shopping around for a new mattress

We have a memory foam mattress, albeit not this make, but it's fantastic. Had it for about 18m and wouldn't have anything else from now on.
They're so good, we dread sleeping away in hotels or with friends as we know we won't have as good a night's sleep. If you can, go for the 12" deep version. Can't rate these highly enough.

Check fleabay as we got ours from there. £125 for a KING size and 12 " deep.

I have used them before too, and good quick delivery, with a very good price.
Tremendous price for pocket sprung, but with my weight, I need something a bit more firm, and with over say, 1200 springs, that soon raises the price band! Even then I get through mattresses at an unusually fast rate :-(

Wish I could get on with memory foam too, (I have a single which cost 70 quid at Lidl, and it has been superb for normal sleepers) but as an ultra-restless sleeper with back and mobility problems, the one drawback they have is when it comes to turning over (which I do a LOT more than average) it seems like turning over in quicksand! :-(

That's the idea. Apparently 2 inch of memory foam is ideal. From looking around it seems that pocket sprung with a layer of memory foam is better than a memory foam bed. The springs provide support and allow air flow in the mattress. A lot of memory foam mattress only have memory foam on top of a foam layer - and have little air flow. Memory foam mattresses of this type (i.e. not pocket spring) can make you get over heated. A shop today was telling me that a customers Tempur bed had gone mouldy because of the sweat from the occupants. Urrgh.
