Yep they are big! Definitely not portables put it that way! - they are reference class headphones so are designed for hearing audio as it's supposed to sound, i.e. for studio work. That's why I find it a little frustrating people vote it cold, as you'd struggle to find quality referenc headphones under £200.
If the Fidelio's didn't have enough bass, then these probably aren't for you.. I'd recommend the Audio Technica M50's, they'd be right up your street. I'm anxiously waiting for them to drop to the £100 mark...
EDIT: By the way, with headphones like these and the Fidelio L1, they really need to be driven by an amp to get the full potential from them. Something like the Fiio E10: http://www.fiio.com.cn/product/index.aspx?ID=37&MenuID=020301

I bought the K550 headphones in a recent Amazon Lightning deal (£130), and the reason I bought them was the fact that they're more or less unique among "reference quality" headphones in that they do not need an amp to sound their best. They are very easily driven (Sensitivity: 114dB SPL/V, Input impedance: 32 ohms), so that even the puniest built-in amp should have no problem driving them perfectly well. I use the K550 with a Sansa Clip+, no external amp, and they sound great. Try them without an amp before you complicate things with another box.

To the guy who didnt like the Philips L1: The bass on those is huge, way more than the Audio Technica M50 and infinitely more than hete with the k550. Yes the bass of AKGs are lean and detailed but i could not live with it at all. Unlike the Beyerdynamic DT880 which is also considered to be good for studio use, that one i really like!
EDIT: now £130

It may even be worth getting it from Amazon directly just in case it's a glitch from Apple Gear. They keep automatically price matching, give or take £3
EDIT: Now £131.32 @ Amazon

It's like comparing chalk and cheese. These are closed back over-ears and the Grado's are open back on-ears. Entirely different sound on them due to the design. Grado's will almost definitely win for it's soundstage, but every other category it would go to these...

Depending on what you listen to you will either choose these or grados. While AKGs are known for full bodie sound, Grados are known to be very coloured in mids range. But why Sr125 when you can have Sr60? It is known the more you go up Grado scale the more money you lose on a pretty much same sound. The sound goes more piercing and thinner until up to Sr325.
