Cracking Price for a serious set of headphones.

European leaders in recording studio headphones give us the AKG K702, a top-of-the-line full-size audiophile and professional model with precise articulation, an engrossing 'front-row' musical presentation and complete accuracy across the audio spectrum. Like the brother-model AKG K701, the K702 are nowhere near their acoustic potential right out of the box; patience and a long 'break-in' period [allow 300-hours!] gets rewarded with a head full of beauteous, pristine tunes. World-class reference headphones rivaling the performance of some four-figure cans but at a fraction of the price. Black color with detachable cord.

Excellent studio headphones, wish I had spare dosh for these to add to the collection :-)

Could go cold here, most people have no idea and vote cold for headphones above £30

Heat from me! :)

Ya they're seriously good headphones , I had the AKG701'S but didn't like the bumps on the headrest. These seem to sort that out though :)

Hi,

Could anyone tell me how these compare to either the K550 or the Bowers And Wilkins P7 or P5?

I will be using them on a phone so concerned about sound leakage etc.

Thanks!

Not a bad price, but if you're not in a rush to get them, it might be worth keeping an eye out for other deals. I got the Q702s a week ago for £100, and they're the same just with different pads.

*Oops, meant the Q701, not Q702

What are Q702's ? Do you mean Q701's ?
Also where did you pick them up at that price ?

Oops! Yes! Sorry about that. Q701.
It was on Massdrop - the deal got posted on here, but vanished the same day - no idea why.
It seems there are a few extras, too, as it was their biggest drop ever.

Looks like they've sold out of those again - apparently AKG sold their entire stock or something.
They've got the K612's up, and they're not too far off these - https://www.massdrop.com/buy/akg-k612

Did you get charged Taxes and Customs though ?

I imagine there will be taxes/customs charges for the Massdrop Q701's (not yet been sent), but if it's £30, then it'll take it up to approx £126 which isn't too bad considering.

I posted that deal - HUKD don't allow non UK sellers.

so any foreign sites, etc aren't allowed, probably due to them not being able to apply their affiliate links, etc.

i posted an ebay link too for a portable headphone amp and it was taken down because the seller was from china.

basically HUKD is for UK based deals only. if stock is coming from overseas it's not allowed.
#13
What was the portable headphone amp, any good for the Q702?
banned#14
How comfy are they on big ears
#15
Probably pretty good, but I'll stick to my beloved Beyerdynamics.

Yep. The "UK" in the title is the giveaway. :p
Unless they're Raybans from Amazon US...

You could ask him, but I'd presume they're a little big for his little Brownie head.

These headphones have superb sound quality, though the build quality is a bit flimsy. I always pick them up two-handed just to be safe, as they flex a lot when held from just one end.
#21
I have had the pleasure of hearing these and they are GOOD.

one my want list.

Ah, yes - good point. £19 charge. But still a significant saving on the price of the Q701's

And any of the European Amazon sites... and Thomann (Germany)... And DigitalRev (Hong Kong)
Seems like it's luck of the draw if you'll get a deal through....

I think I would go with sennheiser momentum on-ear. Cheaper and better

You can buy the Q701 from amazon global for £152 including tax and shipping. Amazon pays the custom charges in that price. Mine took 6 days to arrive. Fiio E7 drives this nicely at 96khz....

Yeah... Anyone considering these without a dedicated amp shouldn't buy them because they don't know what they are looking at!
#30
Must..resist...bargain! These are a great set of headphones, for an extremely great price.
#31
I've already got a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-AD700... are these a worthy upgrade?

I cannot believe anyone would think to use these with a portable player. It would be a bit like trying to retrofit a ford fiesta engine into a tiger tank. It might run, the tank might move but it will underperform massively and you are going to kill that engine in no time. Utter stupidity to even consider it.

There's plenty of decent portable amps. A Fiio E07K, E17 or E18 or whatever would do these headphones reasonable justice. of course you wouldn't be getting the MOST out of them, but I mean even spending a few hundred pounds on a desktop DAC/Amp wouldn't completely bring these headphones to their maximum potential, but it would be still very good.

Bought these and received them today from Amazon. Overall, love them, but I think I might have a fault. There is a buzz/rattle in the left ear, really only audible on some bassy songs, (especially when a bass guitar is just playing for example) but can definitely hear it. Do I need to burn in the head phones more? Or do you think I should just return them to Amazon?

Cheers

Rattling doesn't sound good. The burn-in period is supposed to free the drivers up to give a clearer, fuller sound.

Ahh ok thanks, I will send them back then. Might just buy another pair today and then get a refund for the defective pair, paranoid the price will go up!

Just contact Amazon and get a replacement. They'll send it Express so you'll get it tomorrow if there's stock.
