AKURA 26" 1080P LCD TV/DVD Combi on offer at Makro from 12th January @ £149.95 + vat

* 1920 x 1080 resolution
* 800:1 contrast ratio
* 3 x HDMI sockets
* PC input
* 2 year warranty

Seems good price for 1080P with 3 x HDMI combi unit. Decent anough as Xbox/PS3/Bedroom unit and 2 yr warranty.

ALSO 19" version available 1366 x 768 @ £99.99 + vat (£120)

Not top brand, but usually OK. Main thing that suffers is usually sound quality as speakers small. I think Akura are from the same stable as UMC.

In-store only as Makro don't have ecommerce website, but most people have a Makro card or know someone who does.

Big generalisation, but accepted, about Akura quality - it will (most likely) will be average, not great. However, same can be said for many like Hannspree, or own-brands like Logik, Technika etc. But why spend more if you want a bedroom or unit for kids to play on? - this is not a lounge main TV really.

Also even known-brands can be patchy - I have seen some very poor LG TV's, and read some 5 star reviews in What-HiFi etc. on certain models, and I'd class them as a "known" mid-range brand. Fact is they ALL get it wrong on certain models.

I spent more than this on a 19" Toshiba combi 12 months ago, and it IS really good for sound & vision, but I'm not sure my 9 year old could tell the difference.

Everything has it's place in the market I would submit.

Where the hell is the Buy button on the makro page??
In-store only, they dont have website ordering.
very good value
Yes good deal specially with 3 HDMIs
Having tried to verify this TV's connectivity and whilst I appreciate the Makro site lists the TV as having 3 HDMI connections, I am not convinced the TV does which would be a shame as it would be ideal for the mother in law, especially as I'll be paying for it. ;)
