Product Description
It's not everyday we see something as aesthetically pleasing and feature packed as the AL-100 Entertainment Projector at Gadgetshop HQ; so when this sleek and sophisticated number arrived, it caused quite a stir. With the AL-100 Projector you'll be able to project movies, video games and even pictures from a digital camera onto a wall or ceiling at up to 6ft in size! At just 37cm in length and 14cm in width you could be forgiven for thinking the size of this projector would restrict its functionality...but you'd be wrong; the AL-100 is loaded with a TFT LCD projector boasting a 960 x 240 resolution which beams a 1.5m projection (optimal projection) onto any flat surface at 4:3 aspect ratio. Its compatibility extends from the regular VCR and DVD units to the majority of gaming consoles, and it's been manufactured with an RCA composite interface (audio and video cables included). It even has its own built-in amplifier, speaker and headphone output. The unit comes complete with a vertical projection stand for projecting onto the ceiling if it takes your fancy, and it has a manual lens focus to ensure users will always see the sharpest picture possible. The projector's size, shape and weight make it incredibly easy to transport and setting up couldn't be simpler - in fact it'll take seconds. Film buffs and gaming addicts have never had it so good.

I have noticed some websites say is does not work with a 360 unless you get in touch with the makers for a free addon due to picture flicker, but it has it in the box already, i guess this is a later one and they started adding it to the box.

I know this is not the greatest projector but for what it is it and for the price this is a great price as its normally around £150 for some multiplayer gaming on a big screen and very portable

Also most projectors when the bulb goes the bulb costs nearly as much as the projector £150+ but this takes a standard Halogen bulb and they cost around £2.50

I found this product to be a complete waste of money, picture quality was extremely poor and sound quality??....difficult to comment due to the noise of the fan. I couldn't recommend this product to anyone. To be fair I only tried it two or three times at which point I found it so frustrating I wanted to launch it through the window however, this wouldn't have been possible as I would have had to take down the blackout curtains!!! if there is the slightest chink of light in the room you can forget viewing any kind of decent picture...very very dissapointing expected better for the price and yes I suppose it is only a toy.. it should come with a warning!

I thought I'd written a review for this item already but never mind. It's cheap and you get exactly what you pay for. This isn't a criticism because I actually like this device but I feel a few people have unrealistic expectations from this gadget. If you wanna watch the occasional DVD then it'd a cracking Projector, it's fun and I feel older movies benefit a bit more than more modern ones by older I mean 80s or earlier. I think the price-to-fun ratio is a fair one for a one-off payment just don't take it too seriously.

this was a review from when it was £150, and from the same site as your quote

Is this instore? The link just goes to the main website and I cannot find the projector - or am I just being a bit thick?

I will check my local store in mornin, H&R 2u op:thumbsup:

Bought one of these ages ago for £100 off the bay..

Got it out the box... turned it on.. wacked the xbox on... Put the projector back in the box and back on ebay... got £120 back...

Seriously though they are naff! Even for £50 i dont even reckon its worth it.. Its so faded if you want to watch anything big... and even when you put it just right... (About 30"Screen size) its just awful! All you can see is a "Beehive" Pattern which is extremely noticable...

Just dont!

960x240 4:3 ratio? Surely its 320x240. Don't fancy watching a cinema scope film on this 320x137 doesn't look great on a phone screen never mind projected onto a wall.

Did you have the extra addon box? as i found people moaning about the xbox and you had to send off a addon, but mine had the addon in the box, which is not on the contents sheet, it was added and a 2nd sheet of paper with instructions

I did not get that but the specs are the same everywhere you look, it really does not look that bad for a *Cough* the new fringe. Not tried my console yet.

As normal wish people would say where they have seen it cheaper before voting cold, you are not voting on the quality you are voting on the price lol

Here are a load of reviews, as long as you know your getting SD it is good, after people talking about it i just plugged in my Gamecube and then 360 and it is great.
http://reviews.walmart.com/1336/11091016/reviews.htm

For the following reasons in my opinion this is great:

The Good
1. Big screen,
2. Cheap Price
3. Very Portable (Better then taking your 360 & a monitor to a mates)
4. Takes normal lightbulbs (Halogen £2 bulbs instead of £150+)
5. Great for getting that feeling of being at the pictures watching an old film and can have a drink while i do it
6. Looks fantastic playing a screensaver of all the hubble telescope pics on the ceiling while laying there looking at them pretending you are outside in the pitch black

The Bad:
1. The noise of the Fan
2. Having to use the addon box (that comes with it for gaming)
2.5. Its only SD (This is not really bad as you know your buying SD for this price)

For £50 this is def one of the better purchases I have made along with my EEE (I love that little guy), its a good intro into the idea of Projectors to see how much you would use it.

i must admit im tempted but i have a feeling its one of those things id use once then put away...for 50 pounds i wouldnt expect much but the reviews are pretty bad on the whole.

I was thinking exactly the same as you, but thought why not try and am happy i did, its something you can get out when mates come over or if you fancy watching a film or playing splitscreen and it looks good for both unless you want to watch in HD, a DVD looks pukka on there to.
If you read the reviews most of the people who rate it badly are expecting to get a top notch HD projector this is def not that but great if you think SD, fun, cheap and portable ;)

I for one think it’s good people sometimes vote on the quality of item’s instead of the price:thumbsup: it stops me and I suspect a lot of other people wasting a great deal of money:thumbsup: Sorry I voted cold on the quality of this item

tempted to get one of these for DJ work. not looking for anything special, just low res looped video clips and images (logos/website URLs/etc) onto a white screen behind the dj box. whats the largest size i could reasonably get it to display at in a relatively dark room?

*edit*
chuckles. whereabouts are they in chilwell? might nip down there at lunchtime and dont want to be wandering round that junkshop trying to find it!
#14
They had these in Poundstretcher (Whitley Bay) about 3 weeks ago. Don't know if they still have them but it was the same price.

Not voting either way as not interested in the product but just trying to give notice to those near me who might be interested. Hope it helps.

just got back from the chilwell store, and couldnt find any. i hate that place, it's impossible to find anything.

They list each colour seperately, so you have to divide by 3. Same with alot of the digital photo frames. Misleading to make you think you're getting something better than you are.

I just bought one of these & can say it's not worth 50 pence let alone 50 quid.

The lamp is sop dim you might be able to use it as a night light if it wsn't for the fan sounding like you have a Cessna parked behind the sofa.

I'd bring it back to TKMaxx but someone here said they got £120 on ebay for theirs.

Hmmm....

VERY POOR QUALITY - IMHO !!
Sold it straight away after 15mins of use....

This. Ive got one ill be trying to shift soon. Used once. Alright for anime and cartoons but seriously, seriously awful. Games are unplayable, DVDs unwatchable, like i say, cartoons are adequate but dammn.
