In ALAN PARTRIDGE: NOMAD, Alan dons his boots, windcheater and scarf and embarks on an odyssey through a place he once knew - it's called Britain - intent on completing a journey of immense personal significance. Diarising his ramble in the form of a 'journey journal', Alan details the people and places he encounters, ruminates on matters large and small and, on a final leg fraught with danger, becomes - not a man (because he was one to start off with) - but a better, more inspiring example of a man. This deeply personal book is divided into chapters and has a colour photograph on the front cover. It is deeply personal. Through witty vignettes, heavy essays and nod-inducing pieces of wisdom, Alan shines a light on the nooks of the nation and the crannies of himself, making this a biography that biographs the biographer while also biographing bits of Britain.

Should be £2.50 secondhand by about February, so I'm waiting for that. But if you want to read it now/ get for Xmas, I can't see it becoming cheaper anytime soon.

Yes, sample quote 'Edmonds, me and Edmonds had a bitter rivalry...he sat there, with his stupid Ewok head'

Also 'I'd left the organisation to my assistant, Lynn, which in hindsight may not have been a good move, after all this was the woman who raised her hand to bid on an eBay auction'.

Also love his desire to merge Suffolk and Norfolk into one county, using the first part of Norfolk (Nor) and the latter part of Suffolk (Folk)....

Lol, those two sentences alone have sold the book to me.

Got the audiobook last week, enjoying it - it's no I Partridge but it's certainly competitive.

Audible randomly offered me another free trial (last one I had was when I got I Partridge for free). So I got Nomad, cancelled the membership and was then offered another free credit if I stayed. So I did, got myself another free book and then cancelled anyway. Utter nutters. I wonder who got the power pack.

Nowhere as funny. The Edmonds bit is pretty much the only good bit of the book most of which is painfully unfunny. Armando Ianucci isn't listed in the credits which explains a lot. I say this as someone who has vast swathes of 'I, Partridge' memorised by heart. They've reduced our Lord and Master to a series of rejected sketches based on classic lines. It's like being stuck in the pub listening to people quote Pulp Fiction ad infinitum

"Swallow is a detective who tackles vandalism. Bit of a Maverick, not afraid to break the law if he thinks it’s necessary. He’s not a criminal – but he will, perhaps, travel at 80 miles an hour on the motorway if, for example he wants to get somewhere quickly."

'Flint will appear in the background of some Swallow episodes, he's a fireman who is dead inside due to him going to sleep in bed with a lit cigarette, and burning down his wife's side of the house'

I think they need to put Alan back in his box for a few years. I thought the recent series of Mid-Morning Matters wasn't great, and Scissored Isle was pretty forgettable (although Alan on drugs wearing his vest was pretty funny). Still a great character, but best in small doses.
