Ordered mine last night.. I was quite surprised to see that it costs the same as the regular edition..
Also, the catalogue number for limited edition and regular edition is different, so you're definitely pre-ordering limited edition..

Whats the difference? What do you get? It doesnt say what makes it the collectors edition!
#2
It has the same cover as NTSC version, so I assume that it has the same content, which is:

I still havn't pre-ordered Heavy Rain yet so I think HMV will be getting a nice order from me today including this!

Also, just wondering, has anyone bothered with the PureHMV card? Worth it?
#4
I cannot see the Euro ltd being the same as the NTSC version for £39.99. either it is just a ploy to get a lot of pre-orders and the price will go up very soon or the version is different. either way I have pre-ordered it.
#5
wonda which game will be better, this or heavy rain? either way i will be buying both games :)

Edit: do HMV take the money out straight away or do they take it when it has been despatched?

They only charge you when the game's been despatched..

Pre-ordered Heavy Rain from HMV as well, as they have the collector's edition :)

Pure Card: Yes, it is worth it, as it is essentially free (you pay £3 but get 300pts credited to your account), i've racked up 50k points, once me and my mates 3 collector editions of AvP come out next week I'll have 65k points, gonna keep saving until I see something really good I can afford in the Pure store, not that there aren't things that I'm already tempted by. Also a lot of pre-order stuff comes with double points, which is nice.

And @ AEC, they charge upon despatch.

Play.com has this version listed at 49.99 (http://www.play.com/Games/Xbox360/4-/13647042/Alan-Wake-Limited-Collector-Edition/Product.html) so whatever the contents are it's a £10 saving at HMV.

I'd never ordered from HMV before they got the Heavy Rain special edition.

Shows how a nice bonus is better then a lower price. In my opinion anyway.

Good question.....
#10
And one that has been answered. Twice :p. On despatch :-) I decided to order this while it is £39.99, if it turns out the ltd edition isn't that great I may back track though as I haven't yet decided on this game (in truth, I haven't really looked too far in to it, haha), but thanks for finding this deal, heat added.

Will this game ever be released, I've had a preorder with Amazon for years.

Yes im getting them both also, they are both adult themed games but Heavy Rain is more cinemtic than Alan wake which will have more gameplay anis more survival horror and non-linear I guess

I also pre-ordered both CE's from HMV
#13
Heavy Rain seems to be more crime based and story focused whilst Alan Wake seems to be more of a survival horror type game.

Why are so many awesome-looking games being released this year?

I think we're hitting somewhat of a golden zone for the consoles or a time where developers are really on their A game with each system.

A very exciting time to be a gamer.. Though imagine gaming in 10-20 years..
#17
Wouldn't pay £39.99 for a PS3 game. Wait two weeks after release will be down by a £10 i bet you.
#18
maybe, or maybe it will be like cod MW2

£25 on launch day, and no where near that now

good price for a hot looking game

For the LTD - I highly doubt that. For the normal - probably.

A lot of the games coming out first quarter 2010 were actually meant to be released last quarter 2009 but got pushed back to avoid the Modern Warfare 2 Launch. Which has resulted in 2010 being a contender for best year this generation.

Yeah who remembers the epic thread we had here going on about MW2 at Sainsburys for £26? And those lucky few including me who got it at £22 :p I shudder when i walk past game and see some guy paying something like £47.99 for it :?

Ah that makes sense - MW2 was a real killer.

Though I still think game dev's have really hit an awesome point over the past few years. Sequels coming out that substantially improve on the previous games - Uncharted 2 for instance. Just feels like they have really mastered the systems and are now able to push the boat out.
#24
Completely agree, this month I have AvP to play, next month FFXIII, then i'll finally get around to finishing Mass Effect 1 and play 2, then in April we have Alan Wake, summer we have Dead Rising 2 (and SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 4!!) and that's just off the top of my head. Bioshock 2 just dropped, and for PS3 you have Heavy Rain coming soon. 2010 is gonna be an awesome year for us gamers.

how do we even know it's the special edition no box art on site and just a word 'LTD' doesn't mean anything in my book..

This game has receive somuch hype and so many delays i cant see itmaking the impact it orignally thought it would, as long as it isnt another alone in the dark!

I've just read that. This is microsofts revenge for all the grief they got over Vista, this was supposed to be THE DX10 title. They can shove it up their backside if they think I'm getting this now. Not voted either way.

This game has taken forever to come out, will it ever be released?

YES!
Point 4, on 10 things you need to know about X10 from xbox, major nelson posted the following...
Alan Wake will launch May 18 in North America and May 21 in Europe. Players can pre-order the title to receive the Bright Falls Bonus Pack, which includes exclusive content like Avatar gear, an Xbox LIVE theme, and a “making of” video.
Heres the full 10....... http://linkee.com/rzjo9M

Alan Wake has to be one of the longest developments in video game history as they first announced it back in 2005!

All the political infighting towards game direction over the years has dogged down delay after delay with this title. I can't help think that the game has been far too over-hyped now and by the time it reaches the shelves may prove to be a bit of a disappointment.

LOL tell me about it. I keep getting sucked into gaming at night, either SP on a game I missed out on over the past few years or a round of MP on Left 4 Dead 2 or Bad Company 1. End up going to bed far too late then sleeping in. Need to focus!!! :)

If you've watched the TGS 2009 trailer, you'll know the soundtrack is worth the cost of limited edition alone. Everything else is icing on a delicious looking cake.
