Bringing a new style of storytelling to Xbox 360, "Alan Wake" is a psychological action thriller from Remedy, the renowned developers of the successful "Max Payne" series. In this dynamic new title exclusively for Xbox 360, players assume the role of Alan Wake, a best-selling suspense author suffering from writer's block, who escapes to a small town only to experience the mysterious disappearance of his fianc?

Set in the deceptively idyllic town of Bright Falls, Wash., "Alan Wake" immerses players in an intense and expansive cinematic world that enables players to explore the hyper-realistic and interactive environments. "Alan Wake" is mission-based with a deeply engaging and suspenseful storyline unveiling new twists and profound character revelations at every turn.

Players will unravel the riveting plot through multilayered character interactions, unique problem-solving and intense combat against terrifying enemies. In this nightmarish world, where fantasy and reality collide, Alan Wake must use a variety of weapons to survive, including his most powerful ally against the darkness light itself.

Great ordered :D

Just seen some youtube vids of this and it does look fantastic - I love the unique 'torch/light/flare/gun' combat system. The games look reminds me of the Uncharted series - which is a VERY good thing.

I would love to have been in the meeting room when the name of this game was pitched

"We need to communicate that the lead protagonist is in a dreamlike state, but is still concious"
"So what do you mean? Like he is awake or something?"
"Yes! Awake!"
"I know, lets call it AWAKE"
"Sounds good but AWAKE just won't do. Game names have to jazz up a normal word, like Driv3r, F.E.A.R or S.T.A.L.K.E.R"
"Ok how about we utilise the full stop"
"Yes, thats an idea, but how?"
"A.W.A.K.E!"
"No no no, we can't just copy F.E.A.R!"
"A.Wake?"
"Ah that is original!"
"A. Wake, its good because it sounds like a name."
"But what can the A stand for? It needs to represent a true hero, akin to the tone of say Max Payne"
"............."

young apprentice chirps in
"Alan?"

"Bingo!"

Cheers, cancelled pre-order with Shopto.

Considering the limited edition comes with free downloadable content, I assume that the limited edition is actually cheaper for most people than the regular edition.
#13
ordered can't wait for this looks really good

Yeah, for £2.50 more than the regular version you get a 144 page book, a CD containing the soundtrack and score, another disc containing the Elderwood premium theme and some avatar items, and a token for the first DLC pack. If you want the game, choosing the limited edition is a no brainer!

Alan is a great powerful action name, nearly as good as Colin, Ralph, Brian, Barry, Derek etc. My personal favorite is Keith

Good offer thanks.

From the same people who brought us Max Payne so the gameplay should be very good.
#17
Great price, thanks, ordered. Don't forget to go through Quidco for a further 3.5% off!

Your a mug these days if you pay £35-£40 launch prices of new games these days.
Surley EVERYONE on hotukdeal knows by now that ALL 360/ps3 games will be sub £20 almost 2 weeks after launch?

Care to tell me which AAA titles were less than £20 2 weeks after launch?

Also, hardcore gamers want the game on the day of release, not weeks after when everyone else has finished with it and moved on....

I'm still annoyed at the fact they scrapped the PC version, which for years was marked as the definitive and must-have release for DX10 cards. But it seems Microsoft/Remedy sold out at some point..truly baffling! I'm going to hold out til it's release I think, haven't even turned my Xbox 360 on in 4-5 months as I'm having too much fun with PC titles, ah well.

Thats not what I heard - I heard that they were going to release it on PC but later?
#23
this is what made me buy an Xbox 3 years ago, finally coming out. Just hope its worth the wait. Ordered and heat added.

If by hardcore gamer you mean elitest douchebags.

As for all games being £20 within 2 weeks.. I'd have to also disagree with that. Look at games like Uncharted 2 that are still being sold full price most places, the cheapest I've seen is £30.

And unlike most "collectors editions" that are mass produced and come with nothing but a steel case and a bit of ingame content, this is one that's actually being made for the collectors. It costs the same price as the regular edition, but comes with some extra things dedicated fans actually care about, without screwing over people who miss out on it. Chances are, it will be limited.
#27
how is this different to alone in the dark
#28
Expired. In between me adding it to my cart and logging in, it's gone up to £42.45.
#29
yep same here, gutted
#30
You can still get it for £38.45 with a voucher, it's only a few quid more.

Still a good deal, unless the game is rubbish of course ... :D

#32
Use GAME4 for £4 off, making it 38 quid odd.

Thanks, it doesn't take any money off though when I put the code in! If I try again it says a code has already been applied but the price is still 42.45???
#34
ah, APRIL4 is working though ;-)
#35
That's odd, GAME4 worked for me, only ordered an hour ago.

Oh well, at least you got it cheap too ... ;-)

I would say that console gamers tend to bo more hardcore, for me the guys spending days and days in arcade mastering those combos say in Tekken, or virtua fighter is the defnition of hardcore, and these gamers tend to be on console, plus you look at a game like Bayonetta which has to be the most hardcore game I have played this year is also on console

just playing FPS's particularly on a KB/M (which lets face it isnt exactly hardcore) isnt that skillful I mean its so easy! control pads take time to master and real skill
