I don't know if it a uk o2 phone or a foreign rom but it might help us fix broken phones and possibly create custom roms.

To disable the O2 startup and shutdown animations simply add debug.sf.nobootanimation=1 to system/build.prop.
Thanks for the tip. The line is in fact already present in the file, but commented out with a #, so just need to remove the # and all is good!
Removing the # with root explorer worked perfectly for me thank you :)
great! i really need mine soon! its been since monday... when did you make a request?
I wouldn't put ICS on this phone, the specs just aren't up to it. CPU/GPU is poor.
Exactly. The OSF isn't this phone. They aren't the same in anyway and please dont assume that because this runs at 1ghz, it is quicker and more suited to ICS.
My old Xperia Play ran great with Gingerbread but total crap with anything above it, compared.

Exactly. Your old Xperia Play isn't this phone. They aren't the same in any way.... blah blah.
The way to find out is to test it when a cutom ROM is produced, which will be done by people like me who can then report back, rather than just saying "it won't work" without any basis for forming such a conclusion.

I have pay monthly contract on o2. but i already requested unlock code for my htc sensation.
Will they give unlock code for another pay as you go on the same account?
Has anyone got more than one unlock code from o2 from one account?
I requested unlock codes for two Alcatel's on Monday and got both. I asked the bloke and he said there's no limit on.the amount of codes I can request.
Rooting and deleting 'bloatware' is just an optional extra. You don't have to do it for it to work on another network. Only major difference is that he'll be able to install 50/60 games / apps instead of just 30 (figures are made up and are obviously dependant on the actual games / apps you chose to install in thr first place if you catch my drift). Once you've unlocked it it'll work perfectly fine on T-Mobile without the need for any more alterations.
Could you get an unlock code for me please? Ordered phone for delivery on Tuesday..
Thanks

Like you? I wouldn't trust your opinion!
I clearly stated the Xperia Play is much better than this phone and your OSF, but runs like crap. What you expect the 983 to run like? Butter?
I never said it wouldn't run, I said it wouldn't be worth it.
Go back to your cave.

Many people use the internet to share opinions. In this case, something along the lines of:
"hey I tried this ROM on this phone and it worked well, why don't you give it a try?"
"I tried it but didn't like it, so I went back to the original ROM"
"Oh well, nevermind"
However, it seems you want to jump up and down and stamp your feet while shouting "IT WON'T RUN LIKE BUTTER, I DON'T TRUST PEOPLE LIKE YOU!!", which you are free to do of course but it must make for a frustrating, boring and possibly lonely existence.

Some guy asked if ICS would run on this or would it slow it down. And the reply I gave was "I wouldn't put ICS on this, the CPU/GPU isn't up to the job"
You come out of the woodwork and say "ICS will run just fine on this, because people with OSF have ICS on their phone"
Please have some actual experience before stating your opinion.
