These things are cack, just a normal cool box with a peltier element and fan in the lid. Hardly worth bothering.
#2
Ooh thanks OP, been after one of these since I missed out last year. Cold beers this summer :D
#3
Got one last year, we were impressed, kept cold for a couple of days we helped it along with some freeze packs as well but worth the money

You have one then?
#5
I had one and sent it back....very noisy. Bought a camping fridge instead.
#6
No way will this take 12 litre bottles standing up, the pic in store shows only two and they look like they fill it
#7
The pic shows 2l bottles I think...

Not any more. I was given one by the mother in law but like I said, it was cack. I think that's why I was given it.

Yes the description discusses 1 litre bottles and the photo shows 2 lt bottles. Complicated stuff.

I've had one for a couple of years and used it in the car on numerous trips to south of France and on mains electric while camping in this country and its been great - better than other models I have had. It can be a bit noisy but its because the housing presses on the fan in one place. If you wedge it up with something it runs silently.

I have a (liquid refrigerant, not Peltier) coolbox, like these:http://colkufridge.en.made-in-china.com/product/xednMLuXEoWB/China-Mini-Caravan-Fridge-Cool-Box-3-Power-Supply-Gas-Fridge-XC-42G-.html

I bought it in HK, but, if you can get one in the UK, they are a heap better deal than these Peltier ones. No noise, runs off gas, 12v or mains and makes ice cubes. Runs for ~12 hours on a 220g gas cartridge, weeks off a 13kg bottle.

just rubbish

Great for the price, a gas powered one is over £100 more!

how can they be allowed to say...
Energy efficient – Class A++
these peltier things are extremely inefficient compared to a proper fridge

Got the lidl one last year for £5 more than this same size but just has a control dial on the front so you can turn the fan down to "eco mode" @ night and it doesn't make as much racket, but this is a good price for an electric cool box.
#16
This one has a control dial with an "eco mode" setting too, which works when plugged into the mains. There was most of a pallet-full of these at the McKendrick Villas Aldi in Newcastle this morning.
#17
FYI these are made by waeco. After sales support card in the manual says "web support: http://www.dometic-waeco.com " (also has a phone number). Got one this morning, cooled my beer reasonably well in an in a test just above the Eco setting. It is quite loud on max setting.

On the front of the box mine has an EU energy information sticker. Claims it uses 66 kWh/annum and outputs noise at 39db.

The packaging claims it cools to 18 degrees Celsius below ambient temperature.

I was looking for an electric cool box last year but was too late to find this still in stock at Aldi. It is a lot cheaper than similar cool boxes, seems to lower the temperature very effectively, and I don't think the noise level is intrusive in the back of a car (though it might be more of a problem in a hotel room). The same box, at the same price, was a HUKD deal two years, when it reached 282 degrees. Is it a worse deal now? Not that it matters to me, I suppose, but it's very odd what gets to be hot on this site and what doesn't.

Yes they are all far less knowledgeable than you.
#20
What do some people expect for £35?
Does exactly what I want it to for a short camping trip and runs off the mains along with the car lighter. Equivalent cooler boxes are £45+. Hot from me.
#21
ALDI stuff generally has a 3 year warranty, so its pretty decent and they do have some good stuff every now and then

I picked one up yesterday as we go camping, and we would like to keep milk etc cool enough so it isnt yoghurt when we come to make a brew

I got one 2 years ago and its been fantastic - I use it to take frozen food away to work with me and its still slightly frozen after 3 days - TIP - turn on your box 2 hours before putting already cool/frozen items in (put some ice blocks in too) How can this not be hot at this price with a built in mains lead that other boxes require an external power supply and a 3 year warranty
#23
Does anyone know the power consumption of this box?

Reflex in the sky warn you you're gonna die
Storm coming, you'd better hide from the atomic tide
Flashes in the sky turns houses into sties
Turns people into clay, radiation minds decay

Robot minds of robot slaves lead them to atomic rage
plastic flowers, melting sun, fading moon falls upon
dying world of radiation, victims of mad frustration
Burning globe of oxy'n fire, like electric funeral pyre

Buildings crashing down to a cracking ground
Rivers turn to wood, ice melting to flood
Earth lies in death bed, clouds cry water dead
Tearing life away, here's the burning pay

Electric Cool Box
Electric Cool Box
Electric Cool Box
Electric Cool Box

And so in the sky shines the electric eye
supernatural king takes earth under his wing
Heaven's golden chorus sings, Hell's angels flap their wings
Evil souls fall to Hell, ever trapped in burning cells!

I have one of these and it is very effective...

I just call it how I see it.

These are terrible. Yes they cool you're things down ok but once unplugged they leak the cold air like a sieve.

Had mine, took it back

Yeah, as long as you don't open the lid :p
#29
Bought this last year, used it again last week for camping holiday, perfect for keeping milk, bacon etc cold and then used in the car to take to beach.
#30
Didn't like it at all :(
Noisy, really noisy... and when put in ECO mode, the temperature was raising, useless to me...

Also when plug into the 12V socket, the manual said there is no adjustment possible, it just run to the MAX. Not really good...

Doesnt work at all
