I'm long known that Aldi is the best place to buy decently drinkable instant, freeze-dried coffee. Their 200g 'Gold' refill packs work out at 99.5p per 100g which is uber-cheap. However it's always bugged me that decaffeinated is so much more expensive when all they do is soak the beans is warm water to extract the caffeine.
So I was rather pleased this morning when I saw my local Aldi (Blackwater) had reduced their 100g jars of Gold freeze-dried decaff from £1.69 to £1.39. I don't know if this is national but I suspect it is. I bought six jars and will probably buy another six next time I'm there. After all, instant coffee keeps very well in air-tight conditions.
PS - Tesco's own-brand decaff is £1.90/100g for comparison.
