I nearly chundered and I am a human dustbin! The Port and Stilton ones are delicious, just like the Kettle Chips that were out a couple of Christmases ago.

Agree the truffle ones are absolutely disgusting. Had to bin them and wash my mouth out with soap - which tasted nicer. How on earth did they get on the shelves - even 15p is way to much. The duck ones are lovely though!

When I was a wee kid I used to think the flavours was what was actually in the bags
Cheese and onion actually had real cheese and onion in Beef and onion etc etc etc lol

Ah yes the truffle flavour. I thought it was only me.

I bought these Monday and thought wow! hand cooked crisps for a few pennies. I bought 4 bags of the legendary truffle flavour. I like truffles. I had 3 bites. I didn't like these at all.

WTF were the Aldi boffins thinking at the taste test meeting? Didn't anyone notice they tasted like the **** you excrete the morning after a heavy onion bhaji, saag aloo and lamb curry restaurant outing?

I went to see my mum later that evening and my younger brother was there. I tried to pass the opened pack off to him. He smiled gleefully. He likes all manner of refined potato products . He took a couple and put one in his mouth. His smile became feeble and I heard a faint gulp. His lips clenched and sealed into a monkey like expression of gratitude before returning the bag back to me and whispering, no whimpering, "I've had a heavy lunch but cheers anyway". I noticed he held onto the second crisp all evening as he put his head down and kept quite for the rest of the time as I conversed with my mother about her hip and knee pains. He last wore this look when we were kids and I recorded an episode of 'Airwolf' over his favourite film at the time 'The Goonies' . I really looked up to 'Stringfellow hawk'.

I tried to pass the remaining 3 packs off to a Roma gypsy and a couple of homeless people camping in Manchester City centre. The homeless people seemed impressed by the size of the 2 packets I placed in their hands and the fact that these were no ordinary crisps but hand cooked special crisps. They looked at me and gave me a nod of approval that elated my spirit at the good deed I was doing for my fellow man.

But I have been feeling guilty all week now. I intend to go down to their tent tommorow and buy them some Costa hot chocolate as penance.

But not for the Roma gypsy, I'm going to avoid him. He seemed indifferent to my gift judging by the fact that he kept saying "Spare change Boss" as he flashed his gold tooth at me. He went home and gave the crisps to his barefooted kids who must have tried them and then told their mum that Dad just gave them **** flavoured crisps. She probably swore at him, binned them and told him not to buy **** flavour crisps again and instead stick to traditional ready salted. She then served the evening meal of lamb stew, baguette and cheap lemonade, with custard biscuits to follow, whilst frowning at him. I can feel him cursing at me right now as he watches Romanian pop songs on his satellite dish.
