That's not bad actually, but I got an Acer with better graphics specs and a Core 2 Duo processor about a month ago from Comet. I don't know if I would trust a laptop from Aldi.

Got one last time awsome machine but dell are cheaper

voted hot because mine is awsome

wow!! another mediocre deal

Constructive criticism is more favoured, rather than throwing insults at the OP. Thanks for bringing this info to us the readers attention.

Oh yeah, just because someone has a low post count, doesn't mean you have the right to bully them into submission. Some people on this board think that the more posts, means they've got a bigger length then everyone else. Essentially that's the equivalent of this childish behaviour. Someone with only a few posts may come on this board and offer the best advice ever seen, yet people will just judge them on their post count. It's getting more and more prevalent to this board.

So be considerate, before you type.

The thing is, what is there to prove that someone hasn't been of great help on other forums. I only came here recently after a recommendation by a friend. Anyway that's another matter.

I believe this is the comparison in question

And if you ask me, I don't really rate AMD, plus that laptop has Vista Business, meaning that you don't get any of the entertainment features packaged with Home Premium. Plus it's Dell's own branded wireless with a poor 4 cell battery. I am led to believe that Aldi's is a 9 cell, will phone to enquire.

Right so comparing like for like, the Dell with the same 3 year warranty as this one comes out at EXACTLY the same price, the only reason it's cheaper is you have to reduce the warranty to 1 year (and wait 3 weeks for delivery lol)

Personally I wouldn't buy a lappy from a supermarket but hey, lets have some consistency when doing product comparison eh guys?

Regarding AMD, I have 3 AMD based desktops and an Intel based Laptop. Guess which of those NEVER crashes......
#12
Suggest you go find out about Medion service before you touch these guys.

Its a 3yr Warranty, but it can be pure murder to deal with them.

I have a Dell Dimension E521, running an AMD Athlon X2 4400+, and I can safely say that my PC is great. The performance is top spec. However, I would not buy a Medion.
#14
By the way, just to clear things up, I'm not buying this laptop. I just don't want to see someone put down in the way I mentioned.

Thanks for all the constructive remarks people have left since then.

For those wishing to buy it, it is a 9 cell battery. The wireless card is made by Zcom. Finally I couldn't get any details regarding megapixels for the camera. Hope that helps.

I saw this in the paper this morning is this any good
#16
No, save your money and buy a dell laptop.

#18
Hi all, first post here:)

I know it's a bit of an odd one but are there any Aldi employees here who'd possibly know when the stores are getting another lappy offer?
#19
I thought I would try and increase my posts too.... have a dell and quite happy with mine especially for price...
#20
But I wasn't trying to increase my posts, I was simply asking if anyone in the know, knew;) I wasn't asking about Dell:P

I know some people have had problems with service from Medion but some of that was because they couldn't produce proof of purchase . I am on my second Medion PC and service has been mostly good.
#22
Proof of purchase has only been an issue this year as they are trying to deny service to everyone reaching the end of their 3yr Warranty.
Even people that have needed service before, have to provide it or they wont get their PC fixed.
A lot is because of the MD8383 model whose warranty runs out end of this month, and had many design flaws in it and has generally been a headache for Medion since its release.

The MD8383 was my 2nd Medion PC, and after the 4/5th time it needed repair and every time i had to wait at least a month, i gave up and started repairing it myself. Ended up the only part left is the CPU, and the Warranty isnt even done yet.

Plenty people have horror stories from these guys, and theres too many imo for them to be just one-off incidents.
A guy in the Medion forums, just waited 7 weeks, getting treated like dirt, and suddenly gets a new PC when he goes to a Magazine and gets them involved.

Their engineers arent even trained to a basic standard, and often cause more damage when they do eventually come out. Which is a worry since you might only see one of them once a month.
