And went cheaper

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/202159/powerful-karcher-pressure-washer-wi/

I bought an Aldi one of these 4 years ago. It was made by Karcher and has been very good but this year when I switched it on I only had about half the power it should have had so I have been hoping Aldi would have them again this year - and they have. At £89.99 it may seem steep but it is less than half the price of the equivalent Karcher model assuming the same spec as last year. It had loads more power than neighbours and has had pretty good use.

Now I am not saying Karcher is the best make (as I know it is not) but it's guaranteed for 3 years and is powerful. To get a better quality one that would last would cost me a lot more. If you can find me a better one for the price then please let me know because I'll be buying this in a week if no-one can find one.

The spec on last years was:

2.1kW long-life induction motor
Huge 150 bar max pressure
450 litre/hour water flow

Got one of these last year excellent power washer, and very powerfull, but they seemed to have bumped the price up a bit, I'm sure I only paid about £65-£70.

I am thinking the same, I think they were £70. Still great for the price and you can use Karcher attachments as well.

I paid £105 for this, and the patio cleaner last year - this year the two would be 120 quid :-(
(Without digging out the receipt, I cant break it down more!)
Still worth the money though

I was under the impression that to use the Karcher accessories you need to modify the lugs on the connections, as they won't fit without a bit of cutting. Haven't got any, so haven't tried personally.

You are right, 2mm of either side.

Had a Karcher which went belly-up. This is much better : more power!

Could you provide a link or reference to the Screwfix model which is much better than this please? I need one with enough power to clean a farmyard drive amongst other things. I haven't the time or inclination to use a low power unit. The Aldi/Karcher one I had before was just great.

I suspect the price rise from last year either reflects the quality or more likely the dive in the strength of the pound against the Euro.

For 70 quid, you most likely won't get an induction motor, nor anything like the power

Besides, they are made by Karcher, although how good the spec is compared to a Karcher labelled 2100W induction motor model is another thing, however it will be a lot dearer than this!

My £25 eBuyer pressure washer arrived half an hour ago. I can't comment on either deal in any useful way, but good god, these things are fun.

I want to join riot police.

The cheap ones are OK... they work well, for a while, then clap out. I reckon you get your money's worth compared to hiring one: The last one I had did about 6 sessions of 4 hours use in total over 18 months, but better models are probably better value overall as well as being quicker in use, and more versatile

I am now interested in the patio cleaner which is also on sale for £29.99 after the comments above. Does it have any moving parts? I am thinking it would be good for cleaning my gravel drive as it would stop the gravel flying all over the place - but it would be no good if there was a moving arm in it as the gravel would presumably ruin the arm.

Also - does anyone know if the Karcher patio cleaner would work on it?

It's more expensive but looks to have a bit more about it.

Ideally if someone has the PowerCraft helpline number from their pressure washer that would be great so I could ring them up. Cheers!

seriously intersted in one of these - I would be using it every 2-3 weeks to wash car anyone got an opinion (from experience) on whether I can expect it to last me a couple of years ? Forever hearing about these 'cheaper' ones packing up after a while.

cheers

I have had mine for about a year and use it once every 2 -3 weeks. It is spot on and comes with a 3 year warranty anyway :)

Don't think it is a cheaper one either, it is a Karcher really.

I think the plastic lugs would need sanding down, 2mm on each side from what I have seen on the internet.

If you have any rust on the car I reckon it would rip your car to pieces due to the high pressure... but I have looked into pressure washers a little bit and you either buy a really good one with a brass head pump for long life or you buy one like this Aldi one and expect to replace it. As mentioned mine lasted 4 years but as it has a 3 year warranty you are sorted for 3 years. Just make sure you don't leave it somewhere that the water in it can freeze.

I'm going for this option rather than spend over £200 on one with a metal pump.

I thought they would for normal attachments but the PowerCraft one says it is compatible with a wide range of pressure washers - so I wondered if the attachment was somehow different.

In the absence of any better recommendations I popped into Aldi tonight to see how many they would be getting in (to see if I would have to go early tomorrow). There was a stack of them already in the shop so I picked on up together with the patio washer (which says it is compatible with Karcher too). Just to confirm the spec is as previous years i.e. 150 bar max, 450 litres/hour, 2.1Kw.

The patio washer is really good
#21
I got one of these today and cleaned my decking with it. It was really powerful the decking looks new, I'm happy with my purchase and should be great for cleaning the car aswell.
#22
I got one at around 10.30 and they only had about 4 left. So far done the patio slabs with it, and they have cleaned up a treat. Very powerful and heavy/sturdy bit of kit.
Anyone know where I can get some more general purpose cleaner that comes with it?
#23
Got one today, lots of patio cleaners left but only 5 pressure washers when I arrived left on the pallet!

Halfrauds has 5 litres of general purpose pressure washer shampoo/cleaner for £7,99, currently on a 3 for 2 deal. Zoom in on the pic of the bottle to see it is general purpose type for cars, patio, etc.

Also, Aldi has Patio/Wall cleaner in, was next to the washers in my local store £1.50.

Picked this and the patio cleaner accessory up today. Can't seem to get the detergent bottle to work when using the patio cleaner. Any tips?
#25
Anybody know why this is expired?? Just got one today and they had loads left. (Bury branch, North West).
Also spoke to Chorley store who said he had 2 left. Theres still plenty left if you're willing to search! ;)
#26
Yes, I just bought one with a patio cleaner in York. So still available, not expired.
#27
Just an additional thing to note... Just used mine today and its bloody brilliant! Would recommend to anyone thinking of getting one... cant comment on long term use (although does have a 3 year warranty) but I'm very impressed. Also just incase there's anybody out there as stupid as I am and wonders how powerful the jet is and thinks about testing this by putting their finger in it.... DONT. IT HURTS. A LOT. enjoy :)

were can i obtain a o-ring plus spares for the aldi jetwash.

I got the outlet part for mine last year from http://www.espares.co.uk/.

They are standard K'Archer parts but you have to work out which the part number is that you require. In my case I just looked at the broken part on the pressure washer for a number - and looked for that number on espares.

Failing that as above K'Archer direct should supply.
