quotes ....

COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Available in 500ml cans, from Aldi supermarkets in the UK.
NOTE: Before entering a rating for this beer, be aware that it may be a straight rebadge of Stella Artois (currently under investigation) so may be aliased in due course.
A golden coloured, full bodied, yet fresh and light beer with a pleasant malty taste.

It's brewed in France.

Aldi = Superb German quality.
The home of some of the best pure Lagers in the World.
So why are they selling this?

Loved 'Only Love Can Break Your Heart' but wasn't so sure about 'I was born on Christmas Day' perhaps diversifying into lager was the best move .....

Stella is Belgium?

Hurray! Get drunk for less. Or, drink more!

All stubbies are brewed in St. Omer in France I know this as I was there last summer. That has nothing to do with this deal though , I do wish Aldi would start selling the Brewdog Punk IPA or something of a similar taste , since drinking that I can't go back to Lager or Hobgoblins etc

This isnt a new product they have been selling it for years
#22
But not in bottles?
#23
It has been available intermittently in bottles for ages. 330ml and 500ml.

Embarrassing Stella rip-off, however it's actually not bad. I occasionally get the mini-bottle packs.

The bottles work out slightly cheaper per 100ml than the cans to by the looks of things which doesn't happen to often. Might start getting them this week and keep the empties for me home brew ginger beer!.

Now what's embarrassing is that this beer is probably more Stella like than the "Stella" we drink in the UK. Why?
Well UK Stella is basically **** made for the UK market that isn't real Stella - this Aldi stuff appears to be brewed by Inbev in Belgium ......you know, the place where real Stella comes from! It wouldn't surprise me the stuff is brewed in the same place as real Stella. Would love to know for sure.

A very good point, and this wiki article makes interesting reading..I hate it when beer become 'brewed under license' rather than direct from source.

It isn't brewed by Inbev in Belgium. That is wrong. It used to be brewed in Holland, now it is brewed in France.

So Stella that's from Belgium, is now not made in Belgium, but was in Holland (or as I prefer to say, the Netherlands) and is now made in France?

I passed the Stella Artois factory in Leuven back in 2000...are you saying it never was there? According to Wiki it is still brewed in Leuven and Jupille.

Sorry, does it sound like I am saying Stella isn't brewed in Belgium? That is not what I meant, I was referring to the places Sainte Etienne is produced.

They do in my local Aldi - may be region specific, though as i am in Scotland. They sell 3 brewdog beers (Punk IPA, Dead Pony Club, This is Lager) and a range of the Williams Bros beers for £1.49
