Yes Morrisons is cheaper as posted yesterday but it depends on whether you prefer Salad Tomatoes over Vine Tomatoes and Peaches over Nectarines... :)

Love Aldi, by and large.

Two major drawbacks, though:

They frequently overcharge you - the speed at which the staff have to whizz the stuff through the tills to meet their targets (1000 items per hour) means that there are often 'phantom' items appearing on your bill that you haven't bought. Even more often, though, you'll find that items appear more than once. Check your bills every time - you'll be amazed how often Aldi is overcharging you.

Poor quality fruit and veg.

It's normally the opposite with me, they usually forget to charge you for something. Swings and roundabouts.

Cold. I grow 5 of these myself. Try it you'll feel better for it. Carbon footprint ho!

Surprised how good Morrisons fruit offers have been of late. Often better value and quality than ALDI.
Interesting comment about overcharging, never been caught to my knowledge, but I only buy small quantities. When you see people with trolley fulls coming to £100 must be impossible to check accurately.

With you entirely on Morrisons quality. Not sure how the prices stack up against Aldi, but the quality's certainly a lot better.
On the Aldi overcharging, it's well nigh impossible to check on a larger trolley and they know that. You'd be amazed how many overcharges we've found in the last few months, and most people simply don't check. I didn't - until I found it essential with Aldi. It's the only supermarket I ever felt the need to do it in, because they overcharge time and time again. They always apologise, always refund without question, and always give the same excuse - inadequate staff training.

Puts bananas over scanner.
Gets charged for condoms instead.
Wife sees receipt "who are these for"?

Blame Aldi. Good one.

Phantom groceries. and no never been overcharged (had a few freebies tho), OH studies receipt like a hawk.

Will start scrutinising our receipts from now on!

Do find that the quality of some produce is variable - the tomatoes at our local always seem sub standard as do a few other things (bananas often poor). Our local Lidl tends to have much better on offer and can be cheaper on weekend offers (sadly not a consistent offer like Aldi).

I agree with the phantom groceries - was charged for blueberries when i dont even like them. I complained to aldi and didnt get the answer i was looking for. I check my receipt now and the look on the cashiers face is a picture.

Yet another case of overcharging by Aldi, then - and as usual they won't ever give any kind of proper explanation. The real reason is, of course, that the staff are forced to shove the stuff through so fast (1000 items per hour target) to maintain their wages that the tills can't cope with the speed. You frequently get charged for more of an item that you've actually bought, and worse still you can find quite expensive items that you haven't bought at all.

Aldi will never admit that this is the reason, because till speed is key to keeping prices down. And if that means customers occasionally get charged for a few items they haven't bought - tough!

Check your receipts and complain!

Are you sure? Have you checked every receipt in detail?

I shop at Aldi as it's a no brainier price wise for a family shop but customer service isn't good and fresh fruit and veg quality is hit and miss therefore you do have to be careful. Also use by dates can be atrocious and I've seen packaged food displayed well past it's sell by date so again just be aware

I have not had phantom items, but often see wrong fruit and veg, sometimes more expensive, becouse they don't scan those and type codes manually from memory. I am too lazy to check every time, but if I do, I always find an overcharge. They also will not take off discount on reduced to clear unless i put it at the front and point out. Had mouldy cheese and gone off milk as well as smelly chicken, they did take it back, but that means extra trip.

I knew you wouldn't be happy with this weeks selection. I chuckled to myself when I was typing the deal, lol... Maybe they'll have more fruit next time... :)

I have to admit I've never had phantom products on my receipts. But have on more than one occasion been overcharged, which was dealt with fairly promptly as I make a point of checking my receipt immediately wherever I shop irrespective of how many products have been purchased... It only takes a few seconds / minutes & saves you going back if there is a problem... :)

Yep, before I start packing I check everything on the receipt.
