Titles Comprise:

Alien: The terror begins when the crew of the spaceship Nostromo investigates a transmission from a desolate planet and makes a horrifying discovery, a life form that breeds within a human host. Now the crew must fight not only for its own survival, but for the survival of all mankind.

Aliens: Sigourney Weaver returns as Ripley, the only survivor from mankind's first encounter with the monstrous Alien. Her account of the Alien and the fate of her crew are received with skepticism, until the mysterious disappearance of colonists on LV-426 lead her to join a team of high-tech colonial marines sent in to investigate...

Alien 3: Lt. Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) is the lone survivor when her crippled spaceship crash lands on Fiorina 161, a bleak wasteland inhabited by former inmates of the planet's maximum security prison. Ripley's fears that an Alien was aboard her craft are confirmed when the mutilated bodies of ex-cons begin to mount. Without weapons or modern technology of any kind, Ripley must lead the men into battle against the terrifying creature. And soon she discovers a horrifying fact about her link with the Alien, a realisation that may compel Ripley to try destroying not only the horrific creature, but herself as well.

Alien Resurrection: Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) died fighting the perfect predator. Two hundred years and eight horrific experiments later, she's back. A group of scientists have cloned her, along with the alien queen inside her, hoping to breed the ultimate weapon. But the resurrected Ripley is full of surprises for her "creators", as are the aliens. And soon, a lot more than "all hell" breaks loose! To combat the creatures, Ripley must team up with a band of smugglers, including a mechanic named Call (Winona Ryder), who holds more than a few surprises of her own.

Bought this for £25 a few months ago, Fox obviously spent a lot of time on the transfer to HD because the first 2 are stunning in HD, this may sound crazy but It honestly looks like they were made under 10 years ago instead of 25-30 years ago, can't wait for the Star Wars Blu-Ray. :)

I thought it was region free. A lot of Americans ordered it from the UK as it was far cheaper and had packaging that didn't scratch the discs.

Edit: Just checked mine and it is region A/B/C :)

Digipak?

Yes note from Amazon web site "Note: Discs are packaged in an amaray in a slipcase with rainbow foil outer--not a fold-out digipack." Many consider the digipack packaging to be superior but for this box set it is more difficult to get hold of.

The first film was so good it was hard to imagine that a sequel would touch it but was glad to be proven wrong.
I didn’t think the others were so bad especially if looked at in isolation but they set the bar so high that by comparison they couldn’t compete.

yeh but the first 2 were waaay ahead of their time tech wise, only thing to touch them at the time were star wars and terminator........watched the 1st one about 30 times when it came out, was amazing and one of my all time fav films

Aliens is my all time fav film and watched it at the cinema on launch......had even more hype than avatar at the time and is the ONLY sequel that i think is as good, maybe better than the original....difficult to compare as both totally different films.....but great films

alot of people at the time didnt like it because it was too dark......and wasnt even action.........probably the same people who complained that there wasnt much action in Star Wars when it was launched.....there were alot of dunces then

re: Alien....the marketing was absolutely spot on and the slogan "in space noone can hear you scream" has to be the best ever for any film

if the first 2 were launched now theyd still do well!

cant wait for the new Alien films, two prequels before Alien......1st apparently for release at end 2012, directed by Ridley Scott..........though whether there will be an Alien in them is unclear

yeh totally agree......the 3rd and 4th were bad, but still watchable....too many silly moments.......preferred the more serious side of the 1st 2, not the cheesy nature of the 3rd and 4th

My father is a cinephile so I was brought up with European art films where all that happens is that people talked a lot, ate, drunk and screwed so it didn’t seem slow to me. :)

This was back in the day when a cinema had one screen and I probably viewed it in my local Odeon which was vast. It’s a shame that cinema has generally lost that scale as it gave it another dimension especially for something like Alien.

I'd agree that the first two are the best two. No question.

But the workprint version of Alien3 makes it a pretty decent film. Not quite on the level of the first two, but very good in it's own right.

The fourth one though? Bobbins.

If they make prequels, they're gonna struggle to live up to the hype I suspect .... they just HAVE to keep poking that cash cow don't they.

Good price for the set, less than I paid for it!
#23
Tesco must be the better deal?
#24
The prequels are no more, he has changed the film into Prometheus.

Yup, £ 1.59 Quidco with Tesco plus between 39p and £ 1.17 in points (depending what you do with them) versus 19p in nectar points so overal Tesco deal is up to £ 2.57 better . Don't understand why some people think Amazon is a better deal. I had really fast delivery from Tesco and you get the superior Digipack packaging. No brainer for me.
