Alien: The terror begins when the crew of the spaceship Nostromo investigates a transmission from a desolate planet and makes a horrifying discovery, a life form that breeds within a human host. Now the crew must fight not only for its own survival, but for the survival of all mankind.

Aliens: Sigourney Weaver returns as Ripley, the only survivor from mankind's first encounter with the monstrous Alien. Her account of the Alien and the fate of her crew are received with skepticism, until the mysterious disappearance of colonists on LV-426 lead her to join a team of high-tech colonial marines sent in to investigate...

Alien 3: Lt. Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) is the lone survivor when her crippled spaceship crash lands on Fiorina 161, a bleak wasteland inhabited by former inmates of the planet's maximum security prison. Ripley's fears that an Alien was aboard her craft are confirmed when the mutilated bodies of ex-cons begin to mount. Without weapons or modern technology of any kind, Ripley must lead the men into battle against the terrifying creature. And soon she discovers a horrifying fact about her link with the Alien, a realisation that may compel Ripley to try destroying not only the horrific creature, but herself as well.

Alien Resurrection: Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) died fighting the perfect predator. Two hundred years and eight horrific experiments later, she's back. A group of scientists have cloned her, along with the alien queen inside her, hoping to breed the ultimate weapon. But the resurrected Ripley is full of surprises for her "creators", as are the aliens. And soon, a lot more than "all hell" breaks loose! To combat the creatures, Ripley must team up with a band of smugglers, including a mechanic named Call (Winona Ryder), who holds more than a few surprises of her own.

has to be a bargain! man i love the alien/s movies. watch aliens 2 again heehee

this is rubbish value in comparison to the 9-disc version you can get from Play or Amazon for £12.99 delivered.

this new "slimmed down" 5-disc boxset only contains one version of each film and doesn't have all of the bonus features/extras that come with the 9-disc edition (which also contain extended versions of each movie)

i got a box set with all alien and predator films + the two vs films from sainsburys for £15 last week but was last one left in my store

it is slim box (only the films)

but they had this offer (just the alien films) for £10 as well so might be worth a look if you don't have asda close - but this was last week

For some (like myself), we only need one version of each film.

I agree, why would you want to save just a measly 3 quid to have vastly inferior box set of a classic movie series.
#7
Because you don't care about extras and extended versions and just want the films? Why waste £3 more, have to wait for delivery and put money into a waste of plastic and production materials just for something I'm not going to watch?
banned#8
ok, i retract my statement. i dreaded someone was going to come on here and post a better value for money deal. should have know better lol.

i mean, its in asda, instore, no delivery or waiting, just buy and go. but if you are abit of a fanboy or want it all then the play deal is just as good. most people though are happy with one disc, i for one am not into all the extras and sitting down to listen to 'the commentary'

Grow up and stop geting all defensive/sarcastic. No-one's saying this isn't a good deal, but it's worth pointing out for those who might not know, that this is a slimmed down version of the set. For those who like the extra extended versions of the movies they can pay a few quid more and get a more complete package. For those who just want the regular movies without extras, this Asda set is good enough. You pays your money and makes your choice

IMHO it's worth paying £3 more for the extended cuts of the films. Aliens has at least a half hour of quality footage which adds so much more to the movie.

before you go spouting off with stuff like this, perhaps you would like to explain the existence of this 5 disc version?

I have the "new slimmed down" version and, blow me, it has all 9 discs in it. I saw this in Sainsburys the other day too and am pretty sure it is the usual 9 disc set, i have never seen a 5 disc set.

Also, my local had that box set with all the Predator and AVP films too for £12, which seems a great deal to me.
#11
its all personal preference whether you want 'extras and bonus features' or not or are happy with just the films and saving a couple of quid.. personally i can do without the extras.

i picked up the Alien/Predator: Total Destruction: Box Set though, all 8 alien, predator & avp films for £12.99 from HMV with quidco as well. u just gotta luv that cuddly predator

So if i bought this quadrilogy i wouldn't get the aliens extended version (with the turret guns scene) ?

well unless horsepills can prove the existence of this 5 disc set (which im pretty sure was the oooooold Legacy set which came out years ago) then yes this will have all the extended versions of the films. This price too in your local sainsburys if that's any closer.

Isn't is ironic that you're accusing me of "spouting off" when you're quite clearly talking rubbish yourself. I saw the new 5-disc version in Asda at the weekend, as have many others. I also had a look on the back and it quite clearly showed that it only contains one version of each film, and few extras. It's been discussed before here at HUKD and there's one for sale on fleabay here.

Oh you're "pretty sure" are you?

I think I'd know the difference between a set I own (Quadrilogy) and the Legacy pack. It is definitely a new 5-disc quadrilogy.

i own the 9 disc set too. I'm just saying that the one i saw in Sainsburys was the same size, shape, packaging, everything. And it seems a little odd that absolutely none of the online retailers are selling a new 5 disc set.

Anyway, if it is only a 5 disc, i agree on the 'dont bother buying it' part.
#17
This set in asda is "only" 5discs. Its ok for people that arent bothered by not having all the extras but id recommended getting the 9 disc set on play.com for 12.99. its a very well put together dvd and the extras on the quadrilogy are what make it good.

btw if anyone has seen this set in asda in person will know it holds only 5 discs. not just that looking at it will tell you there is no way it could hold 9 discs because of its size but it clearly says it on the back with just a quick closer inspection of the case, now stop arguing :)
#18
I think it's also worth reitterating that this 5-disc set only has the cinematic release versions of the films aswell - so you don't get the extended cuts of all four films (including Directors Cut of Alien and Special Edition of Aliens, with the turret gun scenes).

Also available in store at Sainsburys for £10. I bought mine a month ago from there. It is the 9 disc edition.

So sainsburys have the 9 disc edition for £10 ?, As i live only 60 seconds drive away from a sainsburys.

I never said it was. I'm simply making people aware that if they wish to buy the 9 disc edition (which has more content than the 5 disc edition) then they may purchase it from Sainsburys for £10.

It's about giving people choice. If space is an issue, purchase the slim-line edition. If not, then opt for the 9 disc edition, which is better value for money.

Enough said. :-)

horsepills, you clearly cannot understand a statement for what it is. also, i dont think you even read my entire post. grow up? youre the one that needs to grow up. a clip round the ear should help. whos gone on the board arguing with everyone because they plugged this as a no deal?

read my first few sentences, re-read it if you have to, it clearly says BETTER VALUE FOR MONEY DEAL. 4 more discs with extra footage and other content, for £3 more, is far better value for money than 5 discs. i think we can all agree on that. i never did go on to say this was a dud deal, i made a case for and against it.

oh, and that extra footage you talk about, its not all that at all.

now instead of regurgitating what i said in my post, be a little original, and stop posting your drivel. its a bloody aliens boxset FFS, not the beginning of a new world order.

"Aliens has at least a half hour of quality footage which adds so much more to the movie"

wow, adds more. thanks for stating the obvious dumdum. half an hour of extra footage is going to add half an hour more to the movie.

see, i know what you meant, but i succesfully did to your comment what you unsuccessfully attempted to do with mine. so like i say, quit your whining, stop mis-quoting people and move the **** on.

According to imdb.com there is 17 mins extra footage (137 min standard - 154 min se). I have been to my local asda for shopping & aliens is listed as 148 min runtime on the case which must mean it's the speacial edition (6 min difference can be explained because pal dvd's run at a slightly quicker speed of 25 fps instead of ntsc's 24 fps).

It's definately a 5 disc edition aswell.

This post is hilarious! :-D I mean, when did I "misquote" you??! The only time I quoted you at all was when I hit the "quote" button at the bottom of your post - and it posted your words exactly. That's hardly misquoting. You clearly don't know what it means, do you??! LOL

As for the rest of your unintelligible rambling - I think you probably need to have a lie down
