About The Game
The Marines story is an incredible fight against the odds, and the horrors lurking in the dark. Beset on all sides yet armed to the teeth, the Colonial Marine represents humanitys last stand with the firepower to fight back.

As the Alien, players will discover what its like to be the most murderous and lethal creature in the universe, with the ability to traverse any surface with awesome agility in order to get close enough to unleash its deadly teeth and claws.

A master of the hunt, the Predator grants the player a suite of exotic weaponry and equipment with which to stalk its unknowing prey. Earn the greatest honour by ambushing prey up-close and butchering them for a gory trophy kill.

Developed at Rebellion by the team responsible for the original 1999 classic, in the all-new Aliens vs. Predator players will have the chance to take the role of the three infamous species; the Colonial Marine, the Predator and the Alien. Each of the three species has its very own distinct story-driven single-player campaign mode that interweaves with the campaigns of the other two species. The game will also feature unique 3-way online multiplayer, allowing gamers to pit the three species against each other in the ultimate battle for survival and for the right to be crowned the deadliest species.

Not the best value edition (as game only is around £20) but this was retailing at £59.99. Might be useful for the collector's/fans out there, seems a good reduction in price.

Sigh - I should have posted an O2 f*%$ing Joggler, that thing gets crazy unjustified heat

It simply isn't worth £37.99.

D'you remember a few months ago there was a website which offered a scrappage allowance against used marital aids when you bought a new rabbit 'appliance'?

At the time i thought it was just a joke but having seen this set, i now believe that they did actually collect the old devices and built the included facehugger for this from the recovered plastic.

That thing is nasty (and not in a good way)

and small (which may actually be good thing in this case)

:) heat added for price though

Maybe not to you but some collectors it might have been of use, hence the post. I personally have just the game but considering it is over £20 cheaper than it used to be it might bring it down to the price point to make it worth buying. If the post is helpful, even just to one person then it is worthwhile posting

Haha thanks mate, I know what you are saying about the facehugger. Still hardcore fans/collectors love this type of thing!

The Special Edition (ie the same set minus the Facehugger model) is £22.98 at Game.

I haven't voted, as technically it is the cheapest set around, but I can understand the cold votes. £15 for a plastic figure. and not a particularly good one by the sound of it!

But you get a Weyland-Yutani patch and 3D Lenticular card too! :prop:

The way I see voting is based on the price relative to other retailers/previous price. Regardless of whether you like the item or whether you can get a slightly different version for less money. You vote hot or cold based on the item advertised and the price it is advertised for, as some people don't want certain versions and would rather (in this case for example) the 'best' version.

People voted cold on the MW2 night vision goggles too when they went down, stating that you can get the hardened version for cheaper therefore cold.

Yes, your understanding of how the voting is supposed to work is correct; you vote for the current price or offer at the retailer compared with the same item/offer at another. Comparing apples with oranges, for instance, does not constitute a cold vote.

If a particular item is not to your liking, then you should not vote cold. You should not vote at all.

I have added "heat" to your listing because this specific item is cheaper than elsewhere & cheaper than it was available at HMV before today.

Another sensible post from fanpages...thank you sir. Although I think the thread is doomed! Hope it at least helped some people out who were looking at buying this

Yes, you are probably right, but thank you for acknowledging my input (no matter how inconsequential it was to the overall temperature).

Have you bought the game yourself? I tried the two Playable Demos available for the PS3, and although it was fun to play for short periods I found the Marines were outclassed in terms of attack/defence moves compared to the Aliens & Predators.

Playing as an Alien also have me motion sickness when crawling along the wall/floor/ceiling [it was hard to tell where I was at times!].

No probs, a lot of the time I agree with your sensible, composed posts and think I have given you rep in the past (but did again to make sure!) The problem with this site is that before going into the thread you can make things hot or cold. People often just go 'errr AvP....37.99....errr cold' often not taking into consideration the deal or what is on offer, coupled with people voting who don't like the item it often means it can go this way....slightly harshly imo.

Yeah I've got the game, completely agree, Marines were outclassed but was actually fun to play as them as they were underpowered so it added tension to the game. Aliens were difficult to control at times, motion sickness kicked in quite a lot especially when going from floor to wall then quickly back to floor as you never wanted to go on the wall in the first place....this coupled with a predator breathing down your neck = not good! Overall enjoy the game though, just wasn't as intense as it used to be/I had hoped
