I know this isn't a 'deal', but me and many others have been eagerly waiting for this edition to appear in UK retailers, and it's finally here! HMV are still adding pictures and infomation to the webpage. If you want it, order it now! Don't forget TopCashBack/Quidco.

PC: http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=280;0;-1;-1;-1&sku=310365
Xbox 360: http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=280;0;-1;-1;-1&sku=310364
PS3: http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=280;0;-1;-1;-1&sku=310363

Also, it states we'll get a comic, although I thought that was reserved for just the US? Might be a copy and paste mistake.

''I know this isn't a 'deal''

Never a good start on a site called Hot Deals, I think.

Plenty of other special editions been announced here with tons of reception. Oh, and it is kind of a deal considering we were expecting to be ripped off around £100.

£39.99 to pre-order a PC game? Even if you got a real alien with it I wouldn't pay that much!

Thats not the hunter edition though is it?

Well i really appreciate this post, been waiting for somewhere to list this as a pre order, the one at game is £54.99 and its the survivor edition, all you get is the steel book and downloadable content so this is only £5 more for the face hugger, the lenticular postcard and some badge plus the RRP is £69.99!

HOT and have some rep mate, thanks for the post:thumbsup:

for those that are confused by the different versions here is a quote by sega-

"And that’s not all. Apparently, alongside the standard edition, there are options of Survivor Edition and Hunter Edition. The Survivor will be supplied with a steel case, and a code for multiplayer map DLC.

The Hunter Edition will be supplied with the same content as the Survivor version but will get an added model of a Facehugger, which you can pose, a Weyland Yutani badge and a 3D lenticular postcard. SEGA said:"

...if HMV are the sole retailers selling this item in the UK then this listing is not for a "deal" it is reporting the Recommended Retail Price(s) at this time.

Should either (or both) price subsequently fall below those currently on the HMV site then that is worthy of being classed as a "deal".

I'd avoid the game like the bubonic plague, unless you thought Rogue Warrior, and Shellshock were actually any good. lol

If you'd done some research, then you'd know that those 2 games were by a different Rebellion studio to this one - and previews so far have suggested this is shaping up nicely. I saw it in action a few months ago and it's looking very good.

I work for a gaming site so I know precisely what I'm talking about and I suggest you do a little bit more research yourself than bleating about what you've read in passing, as some of the head programmers behind both Shellshock and the "retooled" Rogue Warrior are still working on Aliens vs Predator, and have nothing to do with the recent studio closure. The game itself is running off the same engine as those two, and anyone whose been unfortunate enough to have seen it in action knows how completely tragic it is. AvP will be lucky to scrape average reviews at best, just like Aliens vs Predator Requiem from a couple years back - remember that?

Anyone can copy and paste bits of games to make them look more impressive than they actually are in trailers, so I'd be extremely wary.

The upcoming Aliens game people should be getting mildly excited about is Colonial Marines, and AvP threatens to put a major dampener on that before it's even released.

Oh sorry Gaming Guru, I didn't realise you worked for a gaming site which means your opinion can override others...

Perhaps you want to point us in the direction of all these people who have written how 'completely tragic' it is? All the previews and news articles i've seen have been positive (only criticism being the weakness of the marines in multiplayer). And as i said, I saw it in action and I've definitely seen a lot, lot worse.

£39.99 is a small price to pay to be able to scare the other half s**tless by surreptitiously placing the facehugger model outside the bathroom at night. :p

Price showing as £59.99 now :(

PC version £39.99 PS3 / 360 - £59.99

Price was always 59.99, it's a link to the 360 version.

It's the PC one which was 39.99

if anyone pays over £30 for a game regardless if it is a SE it means they have more money than sense and are being duped by the greedy corporate games development companies.

voted cold. £60 can go a long way and can feed a family for a month in some countries.

I completely fail to see how this has any relevance.

Yup. I'm never a big fan of extreme comparisons. It's like saying don't ever complain about your life because there's always someone out there in a wheelchair, or don't complain about your country because some countries will cut your hands off for breathing the wrong way. They're kinda pointless really.
#34
I preordered this, then cancelled it, its just not worth it imo.

The game will come down to £30 near launch and the rest of the stuff is not worth the extra £30 to me, although a toy Facehugger is appealing.

Cold from me.

I've played an early beta version at the Eurogamer Expo last year and to be honest it wasn't very impressive.....
#36
Hot if you like special editions and the Hunter edition is the one to get (the Survivor edition is a waste of time IMHO).

BUT if you're just interested in the game and want to play it ASAP order it from gameplay or game (the same company)

I'm personnally not in any hurry because I think its not going to be as good as some people make out. So ordered the PC version for £17
#37
The only thing you're getting for the extra £25 is a couple of extra multiplayer maps (which will be released on xbox marketplace for around 800 points anyway) and a plastic facehugger.

Apart from that it's just a fancy box so unless you are actually a collector, what's the point?

Amazon are currently cheapest on pre-order for £34.73 but a growing number of supermarkets sell cheap on release day.

As for this game not being any good, check out some of the gameplay on youtube, looks amazing. They've been working on this for over 2 years so no point comparing to Shellshock, Rogue Agent or whatever. They put no time in to those games and they were just released to keep them ticking along.

The only thing I worry about is online lag with no dedicated servers. 18 people is far too much of a strain for many peoples connections out there.

I am starting to get worried. Can't decide whether to wait for reviews or keep my £15.95 preorder on the PC version. Regardless of the low price I simply don't want to waste my money. The developers have a particularly bad track record so hopefully some more indepth analysis of gameplay will appear shortly before release...

Wish Valve had the license.

I have played this game already...it was brilliant

of course that was years ago as its just AvP2 reworked for consoles. Been waiting for a new AvP game for years and they just brig out the last one again! :-(

as said though this isnt a deal as its an exclusive...will come down in price quick

I dont fancy paying £60 for a game and a face hugger... Im a fan of the Alien/Predator series, and got some fantastic models which cost me a fair penny. I cant see the "plastic" face hugger looking to good with my collection tho.

And looking the way bioshock 2 has gone (£30 at Zavvi), im going to wait for the last min deals to arrive
