I spotted this in PC World in Thurrock earlier and I thought it was a great deal. Alienwares tend to have a massive price hike, but this was really good value. The system's specs are:

Intel® Core i7-920 Processor
6GB RAM (upgradable easily to 24GB)
Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium
2 x nVidia GT 260 (I believe it's the GT model, could be GTX)
Water Cooling
1TB HDD
19-in-1 Media Card reader
DVD-RW Drive
E-SATA Port

Also contains Alienware keyboard and mouse, and a lovely little addition is the panel at the top on the front is button operated by the Alienware head at the top. Don't know about you, but I loved that ;)

Good price considering that they sell this with a similar configuration for over £1,800 on the official website.

Thats an expensive Dell PC

Um, they only list one graphics card in the spec:

Graphics card NVIDIA Geforce GTX 260 graphics card
- 896 MB DDR3 memory

I guess this isn't such a good deal after all.

sorry this is cold for me, for that price i could build much better system

agree, if it was 2 cards I'd say it would probably be hot, but only 1 it's definitely cold. Alienware machines are for men going through their mid-life crisis. Real geeks would build their own

The one in the shop was the exact model and had all of the other things the same, but two cards. I couldn't help but think it was just different because the site is badly written up.

Suppose it's OK for people that are too lazy to build their own.
Mine cost about the same and has similar spec apart from me having a HD 5870 and a 128GB Samsung SSD (as well as the 1TB), so mines a fair bit better for the same money.
That being said, the MEM and GPU are dearer now than when I bought mine.

Also this is the same price @ currys and dixons.

I can't see how this is a good deal - this is an older system so it's spec is poor for that price point with the entry level i7, no blu-ray etc. Dell sell the base spec version of this machine for £1249 with a better processor and blu-ray drive and you can add a pair of 5870's to bring it up to the price of this one.

You have always got to be careful with RRP's especially on PC hardware, I find that new machines have high price tags but 6 months the system is no longer worth the RRP.

But shops and on-line retailers always quote this figure to entice the consumer, who thinks they are getting a good deal. They are not

PC world are very good at this, and invariably most of there items are at the upper end in terms of price. A bit of on-line retail [price checking] is always worth while before venturing out and parting with your hard earned cash...
