Here is one great deal for all those 30 somethings to reminisce the late 80s early 90s pop goth days.

Don't expect this to get much heat, but a steal of a price for a great 2 CD compilation of AAE, as well as a DVD of the promo videos and some performances, including a hidden easter egg performance of the infamous TOTP appearance of their only top 10 hit, Marthas Harbour where Julianne couldnt hear the PA, so those at home were hearing the song, she couldnt and had nothing to mime to!....making for one of the classic TOTPs most embarassing performances!

£15 at Amazon.

Was £5.23 when I posted the deal, now under a fiver, £4.93 crazy price.

I already own it myself, but spotted what a great price it is, nearly paid triple that when it was released.

Won't be buying another set myself!...but for those that don't own it and have the remotest bit of interest in the Eves its a great purchase, they may have had a patchy musical career, but there are some gems on there.

What was great about AAE was the fact they got sick of being marketed, although it finished their careers off, at least they had the guts to just go out there and do their own thing after the first two albums.

Would be interested tracking down the hard to find "Seeing Stars" album from 1994, which was the last release without Julianne (Marty Wilson-Piper on Vocals) - (before they reformed, and split yet again)

It's not that Julianne didn't sing, it was just a project between Marty Willson-Piper and Andy Cousin as theywanted to do something together.

Check this video out from the Ultraviolet album:-

If any of you liked AAE with marty, check out his main band, The Church. Possibly the best band in the world, ever. band -mates, Steve Kilbey, Tim Powles and Peter Koppes make a gloriuous sound.

here's one of their more recent songs... brilliant:-

No, it was a project COMPLETED after Julianne left AAE, according to Candytree website, so at least the fundamentals of Seeing Stars would have been the next AAE album.

The Phased promo video you linked to is on the extra DVD with this Keepsakes release :-)

I like some earlier Church stuff, but to be honest, on the reformation of AAE personally I was getting tired of his fret w***king live, it was making the Eves sound like a cheese rock band lol, as much as a great guitarist he is. That newish Church song you linked to sounds pretty good I think though!

Try buying from the other links someone posted earlier, only a matter of up to 50 pence more at the most from some other sites.

Yep, as I stated in the post title description that eve performance is on as a hidden easter egg on the dvd, both the Marthas Harbour TOTP performances are on.

lol.. I love to watch MWP play live. He and Doggen (Julian Cope's band, Brain Donor and Spiritualized) are two of the best guitarists to watch live.. they really get lost in it...

LOL....seriously though if you ever pick up any live stuff from the reformed live AAE with MWP in, boy did he do some real bad fret w***king.

Loved Copes Peggy Suicide album, but I think that was before doggens involvement?

Best guitarist to watch live for me is Geordie Walker from Killing Joke, smoother than smooth.

Nice avatar, I was raised on listening to old skool Rush lol.

I saw them around the same time too. Though to be honest they were not that great live unlike in their hayday. Their new lead guitarist Toni Haimi was not good enough live. I have the live DVD from this period.
The support band playing ( Karnataka ) were better than All About Eve.

if you like it ..... rep + heat added

Even cheaper now....£4.93! Worth it even if you only like a few Eves songs lol.

That link is working again to get the set for £4.87 from dvd.co.uk

Best full Eve's album is Touched By Jesus. Awesome songs. I'm convinced that if they'd chosen a different title it could have been massive. I think a lot of people were put off by the title.

I also recommend "Iceland" if only for the beautiful song "Melting". It always comes out in this house round about this time of the year. Good with red wine!

OK - now back to buying stuff we don't need with money we don't have! :-)

Remember once when I was at college wearing the tour shirt from Touched, and overheard a couple of others talking, one asking the other "Have you heard of that band", the other replying "yeah, I have, they are a christian band I think" so yep, definitely should have chose a different title!

Yes, Peggy Suicide was before Doggen's time. He palyed on Cope's next album, Jehovahkill (one of my top ten albums of all time).

If you ever get the chance to see Cope's band Brain Donor play live, with Doggen, make sure you go. They are a real treat. Check out their live version of Van Halen's Atomic Punk on the 2003 album Too Freud to Rock 'n' Roll, Too Jung to Die.

Peace,

R
