Great, more fireworks going off for the next few weeks ! What happened to them all being sent back after the 5th like it used to be?

I think retailers are now allowed to sell fireworks from mid Oct to New Years Eve???
I suppose Sainsbury's could not be bothered with the security and storage as they need as much room in the back for Christmas stock and coke zero.

I know years ago, they could not sell from the 6th onwards.

There was a piece on the news last week about some guide dogs having to be retied because they couldn't cope with all the firework going off for so long, also lots of people who have to have them are forced to stay in until all the idiots have finished playing with them. . .
#8
This year has been really subdued compared to the last 10. Very few fireworks going off before Nov 5th around here. I guess the chavs don't have the money they used to...
#9
You know what tawke I just realized your right, I have hardly heard any this year compared to the artillery bombardment like noise that normally goes on all week over the 5th/11

Maybe as you say there isn't the money to spare! I have just been busy and didn't get around to fireworks this year, but there is always new year! ;-)

i think this is the case in most places... hardly heard any this year- and normally im cursing the ppl doin em at the best of times (unless the fireworks are the really beautiful pricey ones that make you go ooh, wooow, that's a nice one etc etc) especially when they let the fireworks off at such unreasonable hours..like 1am..idiots..

I love how we celebrate the saving of our Parliament by giving incendiary devices to delinquents.

Go freedom!
#13
Just make sure you keep them until next november 5th. Don't dream of scaring my dog !

Seems some people are lucky , ive heard them for night on end and im bloody sick of it , i dont mind one day a year but why do these chavs think its kewl to keep lighting them night after night , typical chavs..

I love it as a small child but come on grown lads ive seen throwing them etc i mean grow up for god sake and get a hobbie lol ....these shopkeeps should be fined and closed down , no excuse all they care about is profit.

Another money making gimik though , i dont see the point of it at all , yeah yeah remember remember the 5th of nov , who really gives a flying fk lol

nice for the little ones who are supervised by parents but quite often teenagers are buying them thinking they are weapons , dont want to seem like a spoil sport but like i said its ok 2 days a year , e.g 5th nov and new years after that it should be classed as anti social behaviour
#17
They should ban the bloody things :whistling:
#18

the guide dog in our house would appreciate fireworks being kept to one night a year too...

If the supermarkets have too many, they should donate any unsold ones to a public firework display on bonfire night, sell tickets and give the money to charity.
#25
hot deal pricewise, but I personally feel fireworks should only be allowed on bonfire night...

Just went to my local and picked up:

Giant sparklers - 10p a pack (were £1.49)
Small sparklers - 5p a pack (were 49p)
Pack of 10 rockets - £1.50 a pack (were £29.99!!)

Good luck finding any - at this price the staff will be keeping for themselves!!
#32
Pretty sure everyone who really wanted to watch fireworks could go to a local organised display (or heavens forbid organise one themselves) so why we need to sell them to every little chav who thinks its funny to set them off at midnight as they did round our way I have no idea.

Voted cold as Guy Fawkes has been and gone, shops should have them off the shelves,
#33
my sisters greyhound can't wait for these ****** things to stop!!!
#34
voted hot.
#35
The rest of the UK should follow Northern Ireland and ban the sale of fireworks to the general public.

Sorry toseem like a killjoybut I am effed off!
Bonfir night is once a year and should be left at that, My pets feel like prisoners in my home at the moment. i had to keep them in on fifth for obvious reasons. I let them out on Friday, as soon as it went dark all the muppets were out goin crazy with fireworks, this went on til late at night. Obviously drunken adults as most kids would be in abed at 11 ish!
Unfortunately there is a growing number of inconsiderate neanderthals who are allowed to buy fireworks, use them whenever they wish an without caring about the consequence to others!
I say ban fireworks to the general public, too many jerks out there spoil it for everyone else.
If you want to go and 'wow' at a load of burning rubbish and a few colourful noises in the sky, go to an organised one .... on the 5th of November!

Just read some other comments - it is NOT 'the SEASON of fireworks' as someone stated. Bonfire night is 5 November, as Christmas is 25 December and New year's eve is 31st December .... or are you going to tell me that its the SEASON of new year's eves too and we can randomly wait for big ben to bong so we Can do auld lang syne anytime from now till end of january???
GET A GRIP!!!!

Rediculous... I have had fireworks going off every night for well over 2 weeks now. My dog hates it too :-(
They should be banned, not reduced even more!
#38
I've a moron who live opposite who gets display firework some how and lets them off in his garden. The whole house shake when he let them off...
#39
coool - i'm going to try and buy as many as possible just to annoy the people complaining on here about fireworks.

I've only heard about 4 go off this year and I live in the centre of Edinburgh. I think in scotland we celebrate fireworks less than down south.
